Multyhull Rally Race successful start of an innovative proposal

Nautica Digital Europe

So far there are few events dedicated exclusively to the multicascos and hence the success of this call which, despite having been made known very recently, has been able to attract and convince a number of shipowners and sponsors, who see in it a unique opportunity to enhance the hobby for this type of navigation, offering it a promising future

Port Ginesta, founder of the brand Multihull Friendly Marinas, has been the ideal framework for the celebration of the first edition of an event entirely for the multicascos: the Multihull Rally & Race.

It is called to become an inescapable date for shipowners and crew lovers of the unskillful navigation and of all those professionals associated with this type of ship: shipyards, distributors, charter companies, specialized press, marine, etc... the Multihull Rally & Race is born with the look to satisfy the competitive desire of some shipowners and crews and to fill, in turn, the desire to share experiences, measure forces, learn from each other, make joint plans, enjoy the company of those with whom it is shared, proper to any lover of the sea, of the sailing.

Original and successful was the innovative test held on the afternoon of Saturday, October 22, which, under the statement of "mile launched" was to travel this distance (1 nautical mile - 1,852 meters) marked by buoys so that it would sail at about 90 ° from the wind, and to do so, logically, at the maximum speed and in the shortest possible time. The ships, which left one at a time and at three-minute intervals, had the possibility to make the tour three times, taking the best time of the three attempts to determine the final classification. The attached table reflects the results in real time, with a clear domain of the fast will tribe Dragon Fly 920 Evolution of Ángel Amilibia although finally, after the application of the corresponding Multi2000 ratings (provided by the Association des Multicoques Habitables de France), the triumph was for Gaia, C-Cat 48 of Amerigio Guardigli candidate for the European Yacht of the Year, which surpassed the Dragon Fly for just 12 seconds in compensation. Despite the little wind, which at no time reached 7 knots, the speed averages reached (6,8 the best) speak for themselves of the performance of this type of ship whose stability depends on its sleeve, thus saving the weight and the rustling of ballast and keel.
