The American team won the last event of the season and was proclaimed champion of the 52 SUPER SERIES 2022. With five absolute titles and four world crowns, Quantum Racing confirms its most laured team status in the 10 years of circuit history.

The 2022 season of the 52 Super Series ended in Barcelona with a blank day. The absence of wind in the race field prevented the holding of either of the two planned tests, and the fleet returned to the pants of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona without any changes in the classification. The last event of the tenth season of the world's most important monocasque circuit was completed with five partials in the locker of the ten participating teams and proclaimed Quantum Racing the Circuit Champion.

2022-10-28: Quantum leads the 52 Super Series of Barcelona and the Circuit

The American team took advantage of the only test played in the fourth day of competition to recover the lead and to hold to the head of the season's provisional... both titles will be decided to two rounds tomorrow, Saturday, last day of the 52 Super Series in Barcelona (Photo Nico Martínez)

The wind reclaimed its role in the Barcelona race field. A breeze of seven knots of north-east component justified the departure of the first of the two scheduled tests, but the intensity was gradually disappearing to cause the fleet to return to port with a single partial in its lockers.

The race was decided on the way out... for the good and for the bad... the South African Phoenix, forced to get a good result to complete its assault on the lead, committed a fatal off-line that in the end would mean to score its worst part of the season and to move away nine points from title 2022. Tomorrow the final decision in the waters of the City Condal.

2022-10-27: 52 Super Series Barcelona: Platoon, Alegre and Phoenix in a handkerchief

The third day of competition of the 52 Super Series Barcelona Sailing Week was resolved with three rounds, three different winners and interesting changes in the provisional... Provides, Phoenix and Platoon distributed the victories, and the German team is the new leader in Barcelona, tied to points with the British Alegre... in the general circuit, Phoenix cut distances with Quantum Racing to just three points from the lead (Photo Nico Martínez)

After a blank day due to lack of wind, and with a favourable weather part, the Regatas Committee advanced the first departure of the third day of competition in the hope of fighting three sleeves.

The first exit was at the noon edge. The instability of conditions caused constant changes in positions, but it was the final section that proved most dramatic, especially for the aspirations of the circuit leader and, until that moment, the event leader. Quantum Racing started the last stretch of the tour in the head, but saw impotent how three ships were going to the bow on the arrival to the finish, with victory for the Turkish Provzza, followed by Platoon and Phoenix... in the face of the second of the day, Provzza occupied the first provisional position in Barcelona.

The protagonist of the second test of the day was Phoenix. The South African ship started the tour from the middle of the exit line and occupied the rear of the platoon in the first meters, but it was right to seek pressure on the left side of the field and it was soon to collect dividends.

In the first race of the year with its shipowner Tina Plattner to the controls, Phoenix led every step by buoy and watched Vayu and Alegre collide between his stern and the bow of his archirrival Quantum Racing to give him back momentum in the battle for the title of the 52 Super Series 2022.

In the third manga, the fleet began to be divided to equal parts on the two ends of the field as a sign that there was no favored side. In a massive buoy arrival, Platoon took the initiative followed by Phoenix to start a duel to which Sled and Alegre would at times join. In the end, the ship of Harm Müller-Spreer scored an important victory that allowed him to return to port as a new leader... so is the general in waters of the City Condal:

  1. PLATOON (GER), Harm Müller-Spreer, 4 + 2 + 5 + 1 = 12 points
  2. ALEGRE (GBR), Andy Soriano, 2 + 5 + 2 + 3 = 12
  3. PHOENIX (RSA), Hasso & Tina Plattner, 7 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 13
  4. QUANTUM RACIG (USA), Doug Devos, 1 + 4 + 4 + 6 = 15
  5. PROVEZZA (TUR), Ergin Imre, 3 + 1 + 7 + 5 = 16
  6. SLED (USA), Takashi Okura, 5 + 6 + 6 + 4 = 21
  7. VAYU (THA), Whitcraft family, 8 + 10 + 3 + 8 = 29
  8. INTERLODGE (USA), Austin & Gwen Fragomen, 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 = 30
  9. GLADIATOR (GBR), Tony Langley, 9 + 9 + 9 + 7 = 34
  10. PAPEC (FRA), Jean-Luc Petithuenin, 10 + 8 + 10 + 10 = 38

2022-10-26: 52 Super Series: a blank day in Barcelona for the absence of wind

The lack of wind forced the ten teams to remain tied... pending a snout... that rained for the day's cancellation... not to start the competition (Photo Nico Martínez)

The second day of competition of the 52 Super Series Barcelona Sailing Week was closed blank. The wind did not reach the combination of minimum intensity and stability to propel the TP52, and after a long and patient wait in the water, the fleet returned to port without sharing points... the forecast of more favourable conditions for Thursday has encouraged the organization to advance the first departure of the day and try to celebrate three sleeves, a program unpublished in the last years of the circuit.

2022-10-25: Quantum Racing begins by sending in the TP52 Super Series of Barcelona

The first day of competition of the 52 Super Series Barcelona Sailing Week was resolved with a single manga that won with authority Quantum Racing... the American team was the best in light breeze conditions, became the first leader of this last race of the season and fit valuable points to its top rivals in the battle for the title 2022 (Photo Nico Martínez)

The first day of competition of the 52 Super Series Barcelona Sailing Week premiered the lockers of the event that will decide the 2022 season... the official incorporation of the French Paprec, absent since March 2020, completed the largest grille of the year: ten ships.

The final battle for the title began with little wind in the field of races where this Circuit was premiered a decade ago. The only test of the day was held in 6-7 knots of wind, at the lower limit of the navigation range of the TP52 to ensure a fair race, but enough to start clearing unknowns. The Regatas Committee tried to hold a second test but was forced to abandon it when the first of the four sections of the tour had not yet been completed and with Platoon at the head of the load.

Quantum Racing made it clear from the first moment that he has come to Barcelona with the intention of completing the excellent work shown throughout the season. The American team, which went out in the water with five points of advantage in front of the South African Phoenix in the fight for the title, succeeded in betting on the left end of the exit line, succeeded in taking advantage of the entire width of the field before turning, and was able to stretch its advantage in the head of the fleet to fit almost a minute to its immediate pursuit in the goal. Second finished the British Alegre, which beat the Turkish Provizza for just a second on an exciting arrival of Finnish photo.

So there are things after the inaugural day in which only one sleeve was added:

  1. QUANTUM RACIG (USA), Doug DeVos, 1 point
  2. ALEGRE (GBR), Andy Soriano 2
  3. PROVEZZA (TUR), Ergin Imre, 3
  4. PLATOON (GER), Harm Müller-Spreer, 4
  5. SLED (USA), Takashi Okura, 5
  6. INTERLODGE (USA), Austin & Gwen Fragomen, 6
  7. PHOENIX (RSA), Hasso & Tina Plattner, 7
  8. VAYU (THA), Whitcraft family, 8
  9. GLADIATOR (GBR), Tony Langley, 9
  10. PAPEC (FRA), Jean-Luc Petithuenin, 10

2022-10-25: 52 Super Series... train day in Barcelona waters

The last official training race of 2022 acted as a general test for teams and organization in the field of races in which the meeting will take place in Barcelona

The end of the 52 Super Series 2022 is already in motion. The official training race was used to make contact for the ten teams with the Barcelona race field, in which one week of light breezes are expected to condition the final classification of the tenth season.

For the first time this season, the fleet brought together ten teams on the starting line, an unpublished image since 2018 in the world's main informal race circuit of monocascos. The programme of the day consisted of two test outputs and two non-measurable two-section races. The forecast was light breezes and was fulfilled.

The wind began to blow timidly to climb records to exceed the ten knots of the southwest component, enough to complete the planned menu. Platoon and Alegre were distributed the victories of the day.

The lockers are released tomorrow, with the first two sleeves up to ten that will be held until Saturday.

2022-10-21: Barcelona hosts the 52 Super Series on its tenth anniversary

They will celebrate their tenth anniversary by returning to the place where the circuit premiered in May 2012: Barcelona. The fifth and final test of the 2022 season will be held from 24 to 29 October with an exciting final battle for the title, with Quantum Racing as a rival to beat and the incorporation of French Paprec into the fleet, which for the first time this year will have ten ships on the starting line. The five days of competition will be broadcast live via the Internet (Photo Nico Martínez)

The 52 Super Series Barcelona Sailing Week will be a colophone for the most equal and competitive season in the ten years of history of the main monocasque circuit of the unofficial world.

After four events and 38 partial, Doug DeVos' Quantum Racing leads the absolute classification with five points of advantage over the Phoenix of the Plattner family. The Sled of Takashi Okura (champion 2021) and the Platoon of Harm Müller Spreer lie in the battle for the podium, and arrive in the City Condal with the intention of firing the season with victory... and a great host: the Royal Nautical Club of Barcelona. So is the general right now:

  1. QUANTUM RACIG (USA), Doug DeVos, 19 + 33 + 44 + 34 = 130 points
  2. PHOENIX (RSA), Hasso & Tina Plattner, 27 + 42 + 25 + 41 = 135
  3. PLATON (GER), Harm Müller-Spreer, 26 + 40 + 51 + 41 = 158
  4. SLED (USA), Takashi Okura, 43.5 + 44 + 36 + 39 = 162.5
  5. ALEGRE (GBR), Andy Soriano, 43 + 41 + 52 + 46 = 182
  6. PROVEZZA (TUR), Ergin Imre, 61 + 54 + 42 + 46 = 203
  7. VAYU (THA), Whitcraft family, 45 + 54 + 79 + 54 = 232
  8. INTERLODGE (USA), Austin & Gwen Fragomen, 39 + 71 + 50 + 75 = 235
  9. GLADIATOR (GBR), Tony Langley, 60 + 73 + 71 + 77.5 = 278.5
