The International Meeting of Vigo Cidade by Optimist already exceeds 250 ships... when it is still four days before the closure of registration... and is certainly enhanced by the agreement between the Nautico and the Vela Clube of Viana do Castelo to return to the origins of the competition: first the Optimist championship in Portugal (VIII Trofeu Cidade de Viana, 21-23 October) and, the following week (29 October-1 November, Vigo City).

This event in its first stage already had the quality of internationality... in the time of Paco Coro at the head of the AECIO was the founder of the Circuito de Excelencia, and the name of the competition was the Meeting Pescanova with participation figures that even exceeded the list of four hundred optimist.

In those years as the Knight himself already mayor of the City of Vigo, he witnessed the delivery to the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo of the world's best club in the optimist class, by the world vice president of the class... when Franco Cobas was the president of the Royal Nautical Club and Ramón Ojea his wildman.

After the excision of the great and historic Atlantic Week, the quote of the optimist viguesa sought propitious winds... signing a protocol between the Nautico de Vigo and the club based in Viana do Castelo, which in view of the passage of years, has been found to be a success.

Thirteen Spanish nautical clubs, with several of the most historic... case of Vigo, Valencia, San Sebastián, Palma, Gran Canaria, Tenerife... have ensured the participation of their best regatists of their respective bases. In fact, up to ten regatists who have defended Spain in the individual European, in the European Championship of selections or in the World Championship of Turkey will sail in the river. There will also be nautical clubs in Finland, Latvia, Sweden and Estonia such is the expectation of the Excellence this year.
