The School of Vela Vithas Vigo-Club Marítimo de Canido will host, in the course 2022-23 children between 8 and 17 years of age. This was evident at the opening of the season held this weekend, attended by the top leaders of the Club, Mauro Olmedo, and the Hospital Vithas, Dr. Ciro Cabezas, who highlighted the matching values of both institutions.

Among the values of Vithas is the promotion of healthy living habits, and within them, sport; as well as support for equality... that enrich the most sporting essence, of innate companionship in nautical sports and the objective of preserving the sustainability of the environment, which mark the north of the actions of this type for the Maritime Club of Canido.

The president of the Club de Canido stressed that this is a strategic alliance of health and sport: Vithas is a great medical center and we are a great sports club which now match in a Fantastic Sailing School with years of experience and I hope this alliance will be very fruitful for boys and girls for many years.

For his part, Dr. Ciro Cabezas thanked the facilities given by the Maritime of Canido and stressed the importance of two institutions that have been growing in parallel since its foundation in 1963 the hospital and in 1969 the club also maintain similar values such as health promotion, equality, companionship; "and they do so since they have the first contact with the nautical competition, which also encourages the spirit of overcoming, and encourages love for light candle."

The school of the Maritime has more than half a hundred ships type Optimist, Raquero and Cylone, specially designed for the formation of the children. It also has special vans and trailers for the transport of several vessels.

The Marítimo de Canido Club understands that the main objective of its School of Sailing, founded in 1999, is to enhance the practice of sailing as a social objective of the club in both its playful and enjoyment aspect and its sports aspect focused on competition.

The collaboration between the Maritime of Canido and the Hospital Vithas Vigo is not limited exclusively to the sponsorship of the School of Vela, but a partnership between the two entities is sealed to value the promotion of health and the promotion of healthy living habits.

Thus, it is planned to organize specific health rooms for the club's partners on various issues of interest; as well as the joint organization of the Club Spring Regata, which has been named since 2021 as Trofeo Vithas Vigo, which aims to be a reference of the base sailing at national level.

In this regard, the manager of Vithas Vigo, Dr. Cyrus Cabezas, recalled that as early as this year, a talk was held by the children's neuropsychologist Dr. Oscar Blanco Barca, on the use and abuse of the screens, a health room that filled the living room of the Club Marítimo and that was presented by the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero.
