The Royal Maritime Club of the Abra - Real Sporting Club has presented on Monday to the two crews of this Vizcadino club - Biobizz and Fhimasa School of Sailing José Luis of Ugarte- that will participate from 1 to 8 October in the World Cup of the class J80 in the legendary American city of Newport... the Biobizz is the current subchampion in the absolute category and the Fhimasa is the current youth champion.
The crew of the Biobizz, who made the title last year in Rungsted (Denmark) after having led the classification until the last day, will be made up of José Azqueta (pattern), Juanma Barrionuevo (trim), Nuria Sánchez (piano), Jon Ortega (piano) and Jaime Oliva (bow).
The young people of the José Luis de Ugarte School of Sailing, winners of the world's in Getxo and Rungsted, are the patron Nicolás Viar, plus Alba Ortega, Manolo Rey-Baltar, Tomás Trueba and Perico Basterra.
"We're going with the idea of being up as it happened in Denmark, where we were subchampions. We know it will be complicated because there are very high-level ships, but we have prepared ourselves hard in recent months. We also thank the institutions for their support, because otherwise we would not have been able to make such a long move to the United States, to such an iconic place for sailing as Newport. We didn't close the door to anything. We have already been close to the title, but in sport, in the end, you depend not only on yourself, but on good rivals and many other factors at sea. Besides, we didn't go with our material. It will be a spectacular experience," said José Azqueta, who was also fifth in the 2019 Getxo World Cup. Manolo Rey-Baltar, for his part, stressed that "we came to win the Spanish Championship in our category and we have already imposed ourselves on two World Cup - Getxo 2019 and Denmark 2021 - so we will try to repeat in Newport. We are very excited to defend the eighth absolute position and win in Corinthian. And getting into Top 5 would be a huge result. I think the hard core is going to be Spanish. It's a unique opportunity."
