The president of the Xunta, Alfonso Rueda, in an event held in Olerios, highlighted 2022 as a historic year for tourism in Galicia with a record of pilgrims and a hotel occupation never seen in August.

The event of the new Q recognition of Tourist Quality took place at the Finca Montesqueiro de Oleiros, the first establishment aimed at the celebration of events that achieve this distinctive. The event gave a special mention to the Xacobea Nautical Trip organized by Asnauga, as the only company distinguished as a tourist route, a new sector in the entity that manages the Institute for Spanish Tourist Quality and that confirms Galicia's leadership in a brand that brings prestige, professionalism, differentiation, rigour and promotion to the certificates.

With 325 credits - 31 news in 2021 - Galicia is in the lead of this brand that rewards excellence in tourism management, being the second Autonomous Community, only behind Andalusia, with more certifications. Galicia also strengthens its advantageous position in relation to the CCAAs of the Green Spain, and is leader in 13 categories and pioneer and unique Community with certifications in the modalities of tourist hostels, unique public spaces, sustainable accommodation and tourist routes.

The president of the Xunta highlighted the good tourist data that are being achieved in Galicia on the occasion of the delivery of the new Q recognition of tourist quality granted last year by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality.

Alfonso Rueda stressed that none of this would be possible without the involvement of tourism companies and their workers, their agents and their customers. He congratulated all of them on their professionalism and interpreted the good data as a guarantee to the good performance of the sector and the strategy undertaken by the Xacobeo. "We can be proud," he said.
