2022-09-17: Without wind at the opening of the ILCA Vigo Concello of the Abanca Week

First day of the Spanish-American Championship, the Iberian Trophy Concello de Vigo, the Olympic class ILCA (versions 6 female and 7 male) and the junior (version 4) immersed in the Abanca Week. In the facilities already from the beginning of the Saturday morning of the Club Marítimo de Canido more than 100 ships from the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia and Portugal.

There was some concern among the technicians of the event, starting with the sports director Emilio Méndez, who was not sure of the day ended with success... concern shared by the mandamas in the matter: the Coruñeses Jaime García and Esteban Rodríguez who were responsible for balizing the race site, and by the VIGUESA Víctor Calviño and Carolina Iglesias... as well as the head of arbitrators, the veteran Tencilla Manuel Rodríguez Moreno.

Despite all the laserists were in a hurry to put their machines to the point, and even though at the time of being made to the sea, the order was given that no one use the ramp of the port of Canido, due to the lack of wind... the truth is that in the environment I had hoped that the subject would be settled.

With little time to begin, the Herculino Carlos Sardiña, who likes to squeeze all possibilities, took the signal in the Marítimo de Canido to take to the sea to the fleet... and chose for the most reasonable: to go north of the Cis Islands, very close to the tip of Subrido (far west of the Morrazo Peninsula) in front of the beach of Barra, to try everything a letter... because there was no other option.

And the truth is that the decision was almost right for the Coruñés, because a little after six in the afternoon the first valid exit was tried, which ended with a general call and later annulment. Once again with the rone in a hurry, about seven in the afternoon was tried again with a west wind of five knots... and the theme started well: exit from the ILCA 7, exit from the ILCA 6 in which the favorites took over the fleet... but the wind was coming under again and the younger of ILCA 4 could not start anymore.

I mean, it was tried by all means, but it wasn't possible. On Sunday at 11: 00 on the second day of this Iberian Concello de Vigo, in the hope of not making history in the Abanca Week, which had never lived in its many editions a cancellation of a day for lack of wind... and it is recorded that we are talking about organized races in Porto, Vigo, Marín, La Coruña, Ares, Sada and Gijón.

Real Club Marítimo del Abra de Getxo, Real Club Marítimo de Santander, Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón, Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Marina Coruña, Marítimo de Oza, Real Club Náutico de Portosín, Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Real Club Náutico de Vigo, Club Marítimo de Canido, Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona and Clube de Vela Atlántico de Leixóes... they will also compete in clubs of Villaviciosa, Ferrol, Ares, Cadio de Víría, and Casta...

Second act of the International Trophy Concello de Vigo de Piragüismo y Vela, and fourth of the Abanca Week with a return to the Viguese era... by the hand of the Club Marítimo de Canido, with the support of the Spanish and Portuguese Vela Federations, as well as the Marítimo de Vigo and the Galician Federation itself that presides Manuel Villaverde.

The ILCA is the most popular Olympic sailing class, born by the Canadians Bruce Kirby and Ian Bruce in 1971, being recognized as an international class three years later. In 1996, ILCA7 was already Olympic; in 2008 Beijing lived as ILCA6 achieved Olympic approval. The success of this ship was based on its popularity and multivalence; it is also an easily transportable and economical ship.

In Vigo there will be a meeting of over a hundred... with about 60 ILCA4 that is of junior profile over 40 in the ILCA6 and a dozen ILCA7. On the way out clubs from all over the Cantábrico, Galicia and Portugal... including Real Club Marítimo del Abra de Getxo, Real Club Marítimo de Santander, Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón, Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Marina Coruña, Marítimo de Oza, Real Club Náutico de Portosín, Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Real Club Náutico de Vigo, Club Marítimo de Canido, Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona and Clube de Vela Atlántico de Vela de Vícana, Vícana, Vívícana, Vívícada, Vícada, Vívícada, Vícada, Vívícada, Vívírán, Vívírán, Vícada, Vícada, Vívírán, Vízim, Vívírán, Vívírán, Vírán, Vízim,

The team of judges has been appointed by the Royal Spanish Federation given the quality of the Spanish and Portuguese Championship of the event, it is composed of two Coruñeses (Carlos Sardiña and Jaime García), two Ferrolanos (Fernández Alarcón and Alfredo Fernández) and a vineyard (Manuel Rodríguez Moreno). The competition will begin on Saturday at 2: 00 in the afternoon, and on Sunday at 11: 00... the closure at the Marítimo de Canido on Sunday at 5: 00 in the afternoon... the competition will be held on the Regatta Field of the Cíes Islands of the Ria de Vigo.

In ILCA, the Galician army is the great favorite: in front of the number one ranking Miguel Rodríguez Tábara of the Canido Maritime Club and the herculine Marta Torres Gestal of the Real Club Nautico de La Coruña, which is the number one female. They complete the panel of the strongest a priori: Fernando Campos that is the number three of Canido, Alba Díaz Martínez de Marina Coruña that appears as second female and fifth in the absolute ranking... other lasers to take into account Miguel Rey and Paula Peleteiro de Sanxenxo, and the Vigueses Tiago Venino and Pedro Martínez Casas. The Maritime of Santander will be Carlos Casanueva, by Gijón Gonzalo Jáudenes... who will also be up in the classification.

Pablo Astiazarán del Náutico de Vigo, along with Sergio Golpe del Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona and Mario Sares, are the strongest a priori in ILCA6... but eye to Candela Marina de Portosi... the asturians of the Astur de Regatas: Jacobo Fernández, Alfonso Jáudenes and Jesús Manuel Martínez... Ane Lejarraga and Pablo Zerín del Marítimo de Getxo, the Ferrolano Xian Casas and the Luthanano Jorge Ferrer de Leixóes.

Finally in ILCA7 Roque Viejo del Marítimo de Oza de La Coruña, part as a favorite as number two of the ranking that is, along with the Ferroman Breogán Otero of the Bazan Group, the Orensian Luis Inaranja of Castrelo de Miño, the asturian Jacobo Fernández and Serafim Gonçalves of the Naval Clube Povoense of Portugal.
