It begins in Las Palmas, the Canarian Regata - Madeira with 28 ships
A total of 30 cruises are already sailing in the twenty-second edition of the Canarias- Madeira International Regatta, a 290 nautical mile journey that unites the two archipelagos.
Prior to the departure of this traditional biannual appointment for the class cruises, was held yesterday afternoon, the mandatory meeting of patterns, held in the Dámaso Salon of the nautical grancanary. This event was attended by the president of the Naval Clube do Funchal Antonio Baptista Fontes, the comandoro of the RCNGC Juan Francisco Romay, the coordinator of this journey in Funchal Marco Gamelas and Alejandro Cabrera, responsible for the class cruises. This meeting was also attended by the national president of the Association of Recreation Navigators Jaime Darder and with Sofia Hernández, coordinator of Sasemar's Maritime Rescue in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, who offered participants an interesting presentation on safety at sea. Finally, the president of the Royal Canary Federation of Vela and, in turn, official of this international race, Rafael Bonilla updated the attendees, of all the technical requirements such as tour, assistance, regatta instructions and the follow-up that can be done in real time on the fleet, through a satellite program, by having the ships with a global positioning system.
The 2022 edition, the largest in recent years, will have 28 ships from Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Madeira, where the forecasts point to very optimal conditions around 14 knots.
