49er-silver and 49erFX-bronze for Spanish duplas in Canada

Botín and Trittel, current European champions, add the 49er world subchampionship to their palmarés... and bronze for Echegoyen and Barceló in 49erFX
A silver, a bronze and a Top 6 have been the results collected by the Spanish pre-Olympic teams in the 49er and FX world championship that has been held in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 49er, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel are the new subchampions of the world. In FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló have won the bronze medal and Patricia Suárez and María Cantero have been sextas.
The world's subchampionship achieved by Diego Botín and Florian Trittel has again shown that, although they have been sailing together for less than a year, they are one of the best crews of the time in the Olympic class 49er. In early July, European champions were proclaimed in Aarhus and today they have won the silver medal in the world of Canada.
They arrived at the Medal Race in second position but with a very tight classification. With a few seven knots of wind, Diego and Flo led the fleet in the first camps but were relegated to the middle of the table in the last sections. The instability and the changes in pressure have left the silver medal to the last moment.
Croatian brothers Sime and Mihail Fantela crossed the line of arrival in fifth position presumably with the silver on their neck. Soon after, Botín and Trittel finished the octavos race, which gave them the title of world subchampions. The gold, already confirmed before the medial race, was for the Dutch Lambriex and van de Werken.
In 49er FX, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló proclaimed themselves virtually winners of the world's bronze medal before competing at the Medal Race. The Malorcan Galician dupla reached the last day in third position and in the last fleet race, disputed in the morning, added a 10 that kept them in the third podium drawer with a 27-point advantage over the classified quarters, the Melzacka and Jankowiaka Polacas. It should be recalled that the Medal Race is a non-disposable double-score race in which only ten vessels participate.
While the Dutch Aanholt and Duetz and the Swedish Bobeck and Netzler were measured by the first and second positions, the gold being finally for the Dutch, Echegoyen and Barceló fought without pressure the Medal Race, proof they ended up in eighth position with the bronze already in their hands.
Instead, her companions Patricia Suárez and María Cantero arrived in the fifth place with the aim of maintaining the square and trying to climb one more step. After a very technical race, marked by very soft winds ranging from seven to nine knots, the Spanish finished fifths in the Medal Race to complete the world in the sixth position.
Finally, Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado, a team that has been competing during the final phase in the silver group of the 49th, has completed the World Cup at position 39 of the general.

Patricia Suárez and María Cantero occupy the seventh position but the possibilities are varied. For the moment, the Spanish team amounts to 142 net points, the same as the sextas classified and only one more than the quintas. In addition, the fourth position is only ten points away.
In 49er, Diego Botín and Florian Trittel continue in the third position of the general. With the gold well defended by the Dutch Lambriex and van de Werken, tomorrow Botín and Trittel must focus their efforts on not being overtaken by the two New Zealand crews in fourth and fifth position. In addition, they will be able to cut distances with the Croatian brothers Sime and Mihovil Fantela, seconds with an 11-point advantage to the Spanish.
In the silver group of the 49ers Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado compete, who have closed the fifth day of this world at position 39 of the provisional general.

However, the Welsh Majorcan team is kept in the third position of the 49er FX and with options to rise in the classification. They close in day with a 13 + 16 + 6 partial, third to seven points of the leaders, the Swedish team Bobeck / Netzler.
