Among the fleet we find several 2021 winners who return with the will to defend their titles: Maxi 72 Cannonball, RP78 Capricorno, Class J Velsheday the Wallycento Magic Carpet Cubed, real-time winner of the Rolex Giraglia last June
The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is synonymous with perfection in the sailing world... this event dedicated to the large slurs has an unparalleled reputation thanks to the combination of an impressive navigation environment, an exceptional race management and the cutting edge technology of the competing ships... its number 32 edition is held from 4 to 10 September in Sardinia and will have a half a hundred colossus, including the first Mini Maxi equipped with foils of the history of the event.
The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup celebrates its 32nd edition this year. Since its creation, the event has shown the remarkable potential and transformative evolution of monocasque design and technology. The drivers of this innovation are the owners of the maxi and the design equipment that always strive to overcome the limits, investing considerable time and resources in development. The key to its success is the long collaboration between Rolex and the organizing club, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), which dates back to 1985.
The program, as usual, offers a combination of intense barlovento / sotavento races and coastal tours along the Maddalena archipelago, to the north-east of Sardinia. An idyllic environment for sailing, plagued by rocky and islets that present an infinite number of challenges, risks and opportunities for sailors in the search for the best route that will allow them to scratch those vital meters or seconds in the search for victory.
Pioneer from the beginning, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup remains a par excellence event. Its partners, Rolex and the YCCS, have committed themselves to ensuring that the event evolves in the same careful and considered way it has since its creation in 1980.
