Sail GP: Spain outside the end of the Grand Prix of Denmark

New Zealand is still on the run and completes a perfect day signing a winning poker in Copenhagen

The New Zealand team was the great protagonist of this second and only day of the Rockwool Denmark Sail Grand Prix in Copenhagen. After postponing the competition for the absence of wind, the kiwis managed to win the three previous races and take a final that they dominated at all times in France and Denmark.

It was a great atypical prize, the lack of wind on the first day of racing forced the organization to change the format. Four races were held today, three previous and the final. Fortunately, the weather conditions were favourable and the F50 could fly completely normal after yesterday they could not do so by insufficient wind.

The great ones absent were the members of the British team, those of Sir Ben Ainslie could not participate in the Danish capital because of the clash against a stone they had in the practice race on Thursday, leaving out of the competition and seeing the rest of the teams adding points in the general.

The Spanish team ended up in eighth place in the three races. The rooster paid very expensive for not having been able to prepare this Grand Prix in the water as did the other teams.

The F50 Victoria was under the command of Jordi Xammar (pilot) along with Florian Tritel (wing timer), Diego Botin (flight controller), Jake Lilley (grinder), Joan Cardona (grinder) and Nicole van der Velden (strategist).

2022-08-19: The first day of the SailGP in Denmark cancelled due to lack of wind

The sleeves format could be modified and it is possible that tomorrow the teams compete for victory without the usual final test among the first three classified

The Rockwool Denmark Sail Grand Prix in Copenhagen has had a very unexpected start. The lack of wind has been a key factor and has forced SailGP's organization to postpone the competition until tomorrow, something that had never happened in the history of this competition.

The regatists have been waiting on their F50 for the final decision, which has come after just over an hour of deliberation. The conditions have changed radically with respect to yesterday's training day when the teams were able to navigate normally. During this day the incessant rain and the absence of wind have been a constant and the catamarans would not be able to fly over the Danish waters.

The organization has decided to change the format for tomorrow's day. The main idea is that there are three sleeves, without a final test among the three best classified. However, there is still no final decision and Saturday's day could have more sleeves than had been announced at first instance.
