To speak of the Regata of the Rías Baixas... is to speak of the Spanish Navy with capital letters... already in 1909 several great sailboats of our Navy participated in what was the seed of this great event.

For a race within the Vigo Festivals of that far year... went between Vigo and Baiona. This fact is reported by an exceptional journalist, Don Afonso Castelao, as the director of Vida Gallega. This was the Nautico set up by the then commander of Marina de Vigo, with the enthusiastic support of Don José Elduayen Gorriti's son.

Already in post-war times, the Navy being its minister Admiral Moreno turned in support of the Nautical on a great Nautical Week which is still today the day that never in our City has such an event been assembled again because of its breadth of views, its enormous participation and its national protagonism.

In the birth of the modern Rias, by the hand of the historic members of the Royal Nautical Club in the early '60s... it is necessary not to avoid the Navy. They supported, participated not only in the first steps of a race... which became the most important in all of Spain, until the already well-entered eruption of the 80's, of the King's Cup.

The Marin Navy... and never again said this game of very football words that it made application of MARCA... and is that it is the Villa of Marin, a ship of the Naval School full of good sailors of high gradations

This sympathy and support for water sports, by the Navy, has always been present in the Rías Baixas... and despite the 59 years, which it already has, the reference race of the Spanish candle in stages... our Navy is still there with several units.

This is the case of the precious Hanse 470DS, which has as its patron the Major Assistant of the Naval School, the Captain of Fragata Alberto Migulez- Cela Cervera and by endowment no less than four captains of ship: Carlos Sande, José Astor, Ramón Torralbo and Joaquín Ballesteros and a colonel, who is Javier Cervera. The Galician candle is proud of the love of the Naval School. Please don't doubt it's mutuo... thank you friends!!!
