The rental market, with 1,600 registration of vessels intended for this use, is growing in all its segments except for the market of water bikes (-30%) which causes a 5% decrease in this market.

"The data from the nautical market, which continues to be affected by the logistical crisis of supplies that has been affecting since mid-last year, causing delays in ship deliveries, reflect a trend towards the stabilization of the sector after two years of strong growth. The demand for nautical activities, despite the uncertainty in the economy for the coming months, continues to grow as shown by the number of ships sailing the Spanish coast this summer, a manifestation that nautical tourism continues to be an upward trend of leisure".Carlos Sanlorenzo, Secretary General of ANEN.

Between January and July of this year, 4,433 recreational boats have been registered in Spain compared to 5,346 in the same period last year, a decrease of -17%.

These are the data collected in the "Energy-July, 2022," published by ANEN on the basis of the data provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.

All segments fall with respect to the same period of 2021, with the vessels less affected being those of length between 6 and 8 meters (-3.5%) and those of length of more than 16 meters (-6%). The most significant loss of registration is that of small ships up to 6 meters (-20%) and the segment between 8 and 16 meters that records an average drop in enrolments of -17%.

By type of boat, semi-rigid tyres are the only ones with positive data with a slight growth of 0.7%. All other markets report a decline in enrolment with the greatest impact on water bikes (-36%), followed by sailboats
(-13,4%), folding pneumatic (-13,1%) and motor vessels (-10,8%).

The rental market has 1,600 registration of vessels for commercial use (nautical charter) in the period enero-July of this year, a decrease of -5% from 2021, caused by the fall in registration of water bikes (-30%) as a result of delays in the delivery of units due to lack of supplies.

The remaining segments of vessels for commercial use have grown in the period under review and the charter market already accounts for 36% of the global nautical market.

The decline in the enrolment of recreational boats affects the practice of all provinces. The Balearic Islands remain the territory with the highest nautical activity (20% market share); and in the computation of registration, in the coastal provinces, they present positive data Girona (3.7%) and Guipuzcoa (41%).

In the charter market, Baleares continues to lead this market by share (32.8%) and growth of charter registration (25.6%). They also present growth data Cadiz, Cantabria, Murcia, Pontevedra and Tarragona.
