Naval stop of the fleet of Great Sailors on arrival in Vigo on the occasion of the route Xacobea Iacobus Maris
The Iacobus Maris is already in Vigo... the sailboats of the xacobea maritime route that on June 26 was leaving Genoa with destination Galicia have arrived this afternoon to the transatlantic pier of the Port of Vigo, after a spectacular naval stop from the Cis Islands.
The river of Vigo has not been disappointed and has received them with bright sun, more than 20 knots of wind and much wave... that has not prevented them from coming to receive them dozens of ships of spectators, to which has been added the public at the foot of the dock that has also visited the village, opened since yesterday... and that will be closed on Sunday.
The fleet of the Iacobus Maris already tied Vigo is made up of Peregrina (Spanish), the carabela Vera Cruz (Portuguese), the gulets Evangelina (Galician), Atyla (Spanish) and Etoile (French), the alicantino palibote Pascual Flores and the VO70 E1. They have also participated in the Palinuro (Italian) and Mircea (Romania) route.
With this arrival, the crew end about 1,600 miles of navigation that have taken them from the port of Genoa through Valencia, Seville, Porto and now Vigo. Happy to have completed so many miles of navigation on these very special ships and happy to have a new experience of life in the backpack, the crews smiled with a certain melancholy, that of knowing that tomorrow they end the Way... the crews will make tomorrow the last stretch to Santiago de Compostela, first in a catamaran by the River Ulla and finally on foot to the cathedral.
The Iacobus Maris has been organized by the Traslatio Foundation with the sponsorship of Xacobeo 2021-22... at the stop of Vigo has the collaboration in addition to Abanca, Applus +, Estrella Galicia 0.0 and the Harbour Authority of Vigo.
