This initiative, which was presented in February 2022, represents a new model of aid for Olympic athletes who, based on technical criteria, have greater options for a medal in Paris 2024.

A total of 11 regatists from the Spanish Vela Federation have been selected to be part of the Team España Elite program of the Higher Council of Sports.

The first step to be in Paris 2024 is to get the country square in each of the ten sailing modes. The first opportunity to qualify will be the 2023 Olympic class sailing world to be held in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Once the country square has been reached, and after a selection race has been completed, the regatist or crew who will finally represent Spain in the next Games will be appointed.

Gisela Polido (F.Kite), Pilar Lamadrid (iQFoil), Diego Botín and Florian Trittel (49er), Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló (FX), Jordi Xammar and Nora Brugman (470), Silvia Mas and Nicolás Rodríguez (470), and Joan Cardona (ILCA 7) are the sailing athletes who are part of this new project.
