The thirty-first edition of the Costa Vasca-Golden Whale Regata was won by the Rat Pack vizcino, the M 34 by Javier-varri, after this year's test was conditioned during the three days of competition for lack of wind.

The first of Friday had to be cancelled, the Saturday coast desperate the crews - with only six ships that completed the 31 miles between Hondarribia and Lekeitia - and the third and last, with an exit over two in the afternoon, developed with a six-mile-sotavent, and loose north-east wind of five knots in Lekeitio waters.

The Rat Pack by Javier Chandvarri, of the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club, was finally awarded the Golden Whale, the Abelarre of Mauricio Guibert the Silver Whale and the Maitena of Mikel Emaldi that of Bronze.

The Rat Pack jumped from the third to the first position, after the Andarax Bi gipuzcoano ended up as a leader before the last exit, after benefiting from the final part of the second day, when when he arrived in Lekeitio took a north-west wind from the north, as did the Akelarre, who helped with the current approached the Maitena and the Rat Pack, who chose the most direct area to enter about 11 o'clock at night.

In the final day, the Maitena entered the first in real time, as in the previous day, with the Rat Pack second. Both Rat Pack and Akelarre were tied in the general at 5 points, but Javier-varri's crew set up the Whale by classifying themselves better, second, on the decisive day. Al Maitena, winner of Lekeitio, penalized his fifth position on the coastal crossing. In the Osiris class the Aixkire 5 of Maiko Aldarondo, of the Nautical Club of Hondarribia, was imposed... the ship with the highest female representation was the Ramper of Jairo López de Guevara, with four women.

The crew of the winning Rat Pack was made up of Javier Miguvarri, Lourdes Bilbao, Veronica Retolaza, Alejandro Zuazola, Manolo Guzmán, Urko Jáuregui and Gabriel Aranguren.

2022-07-16: Monumental gauze for the Basque Coast Regatta... second day in white

New blank day in gipuzcoan waters

Some ships decided to withdraw before completing the 30 miles, as they were not going to enter the limit time marked by the organization... and that the most veterans have always been ecstatic to the rounds of sailing in east-west in Euskadi at this time of year... and that the experience is a degree.

Tomorrow, if the wind appears in a heat-burning day also in the Cantabrian, this thirty-first edition will be decided with two barlovento-sotavento planned in waters of the town of Lekeitio.

2022-07-15: Regata Costa Vasca... haizerik ez estropadarik... or blank day

Costa Vasca could not celebrate the first two of its five planned tours... the wind did not appear in Hondarribia

The Costa Vasca-Golden Whale Regata was conditioned by the lack of wind at the beginning of its thirty-first edition in Gipuzkoa waters... in Hondarribia.

Two small and small ones were planned, but the absence of wind leaves its resolution for this weekend.

An exit of almost five knots was given to the 20-degree cruises, but when the intensity was reduced the race had to be overturned by the Committee and no tests could be carried out. Tomorrow I'm going to Lekeitio more.

The race received the exit two and a half hours later of the scheduled schedule when some wind appeared, but it fell again and the classifications were as they were after the first day.
