Catalonia implements a pioneering methodology in the teaching of sailing

The great novelty of this update is to provide a structure of concepts with a wide range of exercises to make concepts easier to assimilate and, above all, to internalize.
This summer, the Catalan Scola de Vela, dependent on the Catalan Federation of Vela, has implemented a new update of its model of training of navigators in about twenty clubs and schools of Catalonia with the aim of transmitting, in a practical and near way, all the knowledge, details and nuances that make the sailing an exciting sport.
In this way, the student will implement the theory with the aim of converting knowledge into practical resources in the day-to-day of navigation, regardless of the environment and weather conditions. At this point, creativity in the choice of different exercises is key to involving the student, arousing interest and immersing him in the learning process.
This methodology divides learning into three levels: basic, medium and advanced. The basic level is an introduction to navigation in which, with an impact on the orientation at sea, the student will be made a general idea of the main maneuvers and of all possible steps, putting in particular value safety and without entering into technical details.
On the medium level, the student will gain autonomy by starting, with safety, a less guided navigation in which the intuition and mechanization of the necessary movements are the axis of learning. At the advanced level, they will learn and implement specific techniques and maneuvers - related to the various wind and sea conditions - with the objective that they will navigate with freedom and autonomy.

It is an open and flexible methodology at all ages and fully inclusive with people with functional diversity who love the sea and want to learn how to navigate
The content of the new update of the methodology has been included in the fact sheets for students and technicians, which, for the first time, is available in digital format, in addition to the paper version. This content has a theoretical part, another of exercises for each concept and very simple and intuitive explanatory graphics and figures. In addition, students when enrolled in a sailing course receive a book where all these contents are summarized and from where their evolution will be monitored.
The clubs and schools where this methodology is being implemented are: GEN Roses, Empuriabrava Sailing, Club Néutic l'Escalo, Club Néutic Costa Brava & Club Vela Palamós, Club Vela Blanes, Club Néutic d'Arenys de Mar, Club Néutic el Balís, Club Néutic Mataró, Club Néutic Vilassar de Mar, Club Marítima Montgat, Barcelona International Sailing Center (BISC), Centre Municipal de Vela Barcelona, Centre Municipal de Vela Prautika, Club Nétiva, Club Nétige, Club Nétiva, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige, Club Nétige.
