Italy and Germany dominate the Swan Worlds after the Valencian act
An exciting last day in the water today has put the gold brooch to the Swan One Design Worlds, Swan Class World Championship, which has been held this week in the waters of the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia.
A lighter wind than the rest of the days, today, received the fleets of ClubSwan 36, ClubSwan 42 and ClubSwan 50, to fight the last two decisive races.
Having started the day only one point ahead of some of its rivals, the crew of Cuordileone, led by Leonardo Ferragamo, has tempered the nerves and was made with the victory in the first test of the day, which has allowed it to expand its advantage over the persistent Earlybird, of Hendrik Brandis. Then, with the third place in the second and last test of this world, he has sealed his victory in the ClubSwan 50 class.
For its part, Balthasar, of Louis Balcan, has today obtained an identical result of 3-1, placing itself at a point of the second classified, Earlybird, on the final podium.
The world title defense team, Hatari of Marcus Brenneck, has done two seconds today, which have not allowed him to enter the podium, finally leaving him in fourth position.
In the ClubSwan 36 fleet, the victory of the Farstar of Lorenzo Mondo, and a seventh place of the class's provisional leader, Mamao, in the penultimate race of the championship, have led the first four classified to start the last trial with a point of difference between them, and with Farstar at the head.
But with a movement that seemed to be designed to demonstrate its resilience, Mamao, from Haakon Lorentzen, with a Brazilian flag, has recovered and won his second victory in this race, tying to 33 points with Farstar and proclaiming himself the winner of the Swan Design Worlds in almost discounted time.
He closed the podium of the Cuordileone class of Edoardo Ferragamo, with G Spot, from Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio, leaving out of the contest.
Although they have had to work hard on this last day to confirm their leadership, Nadir, of Pedro Vaquer, has given everything on this last day, ending the day with a 1-2 score that has awarded him victory in the ClubSwan 42 class with a 12-point advantage, giving much to celebrate to Spanish followers.
The Selene-Alifax, of Massimo De Campo, has secured the second square of the table, while another representative of Spain in the race, the April Fish, of José María Meseguer, has today achieved a result of 2-3 with which he has podium, moving to the Dralion of Pit Finis that had started the last day in a clear third place.
In the country classification - Best- Placed Nations standards according to its official nomenclature - of this Swan One Design Worlds, Italy and Germany are at the top tied to 28 points, thanks to the heroic performances of Cuordileone and Drifter Sail, and Earlybird and Hatari, for their respective countries. For its part, the results of Nadir and Pez de Abril, in ClubSwan 42, have helped Spain to take third place.
