The Discovery Race 2022, the regatta of the discoverers, is taking shape and haste the last days of inscriptions. Sunday, July 3, at 24: 00, is the deadline set in the Regatas Annunciation to sign up for the race or in some of the stages that make up this ocean race that unites Spain and Portugal, although the Organizing Committee reserves the possibility of accepting any more registration until July 15 at 21: 00.

The departure will take place on July 19 from La Coruña and will end on August 7 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Cruises that want to participate in it may do so in their entirety or by participating in loose stages. Open and ORC category ships may participate with their corresponding measurement certificate.

July 24 - Oporto - Sines of 208.90 nautical miles
July 28 - Sines-Funchal 507.40 nautical miles
August 4 - Sines- The 282.90 nautical mile GC palms

In each stage there will be trophies for the first of each of the Classes and for the boat that takes the tour in the shortest time in both Open and ORC. The ratio of trophies to the final classifications of each Class and Division shall be based on the number of vessels registered. Up to 3 vessels for each Division will be 1 trophy, up to 7 for each Division will be 2 trophies, and 3 trophies for 8 or more boats for each Division.

The vessel that invests the least real time, including the penalties if any, in carrying out the total course of the 5 stages of the DR2022 will receive a reproduction of the Trophy Fernão de Magalhães. It will be awarded with the Juan Sebastián Trophy of Elcano donated by the Spanish Navy to the vessel of the DR 2022 - V Centenary of the First World Round (first classified in the class ORC).

The Discovery Race 2022 is a race created and promoted by the European Sailing Brotherhood organized by the RCN La Coruña, RCN Portosín, Clube de Sela Atlántico, Clube Náutico de Sines, Associaçao Regional de Vela da Madeira and the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria.
