New beacon on the Chafarinas Pier, on the Island of Elizabeth II

The Harbour Authority of Melilla has just renewed its maritime beacon through the replacement of eight maritime signs, seven of which are located in the Port of Melilla and one on the pier of the Island of Elizabeth II, in the Chafarinas Islands, off the coast of Morocco.

The technical staff of Almarin, a public competition firm, have moved to carry out the relevant work in order to ensure that the signals comply with the regulations of State Ports.

At the Chafarinas Dome, on the island of Elizabeth II, after the withdrawal of the old beacon and the demolition of its support, the signal has been replaced by a four-meter-high fiberglass signalling tower, which contains access to the interior.

This new beacon, being modular, has been able to be mounted by parts of 20 kg each by hand in situ by the operators. The tower contains an access door with a security system and an inner staircase, and at the top a platform at three meters high to be able to maintain the beacon with a protective railing; finally, the support with the flashlight is found

With regard to the signals of the port of Melilla, the internal port signals have been replaced by new stainless steel poles, specially designed for the customer, which measure three meters in height and have an access staircase. The posts provided are highly resistant to the corrosive environment. In this way, all the beacons now comply with the recommendations of the State Port Maritime Navigation Aid Project Guide.
