The Races Medal today put the end to Kiel Week by closing with silver medal the participation of Diego Botín and Florian Trittel in the 49er class... the pre-Olympic team was also present in the 49er FX category, where Patricia Suárez and María Cantero (12th) were the best classified, and in Nacra 17, where Iset Segura and Marcos Fernández (24) highlighted.
The most outstanding Spanish performance has been that of Diego Botín and Florian Trittel in 49er who, over the four days of competition, have shown how to test the performance of the new tandem improves and points firmly towards Paris 2024. The national dupla ended the first day at position 19, ascending step by step in the table to place rooms on the exit grill of the Medal Race, closing its partials with a first position. In the final race they again demonstrated their credentials by taking up the second position, a result with which they accessed the second step of the podium, led by the Germans Peters and Stort, and with the New Zealanders McHardie and McKenzie in third position.
In this class, the Spanish Andrés Barrio and Antonio Torrado, of the pre-Olympic team, occupied position 21. The crews of the National Plan for Sports Tecnification also competed: Albert Torres and Elías Aretz (32), Pol Marsans and José Manuel Ruiz (51), the brothers Martin and Jaime Wizner (63), and Konrad Konitzer and Fernando Rodríguez (65).
In 49er FX, the pre-Olympic Patricia Suárez and María Cantero ended at 12, while Marina Garau and Carlota García of the PNTD were 30th. The triumph was for the Germans Sophie Stenlein and Thomas Plöbel.
There was also Spanish participation in Nacra 17, with Iset Segura and Marcos Fernández ending 24th, and Nicolás Martín and Jill Paland, 25th. The Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, claimed their recent Olympic gold to rise with victory in the class. Tara Pacheco and Iago López Marra were registered but finally decided not to go to the competition.
