The Spanish Joel Rodríguez has won the silver medal of the ILCA 7 at the Mediterranean Games of 2022 that have been held throughout this week in Oran, Algeria. The canary regatist has gone from less to more in the competition and has ended up on the podium.

In the female iQFoil, the Pilar Lamadrid Andalusian has remained at the podium's doors after today's contest of a last slalom-type sleeve with minimal wind conditions so that the tables could navigate with the foil.

Lamadrid had a good start in competition but an UFD in the second day committed the only discards applicable throughout the championship, which has ended with a total of 17 tests.

The Andrea Torres ballast, which in the farewell race has been second, has finished its first Mediterranean Games in the sixth position of the general.

On the male tables, the Canary Angel Granda has used the last race of the championship to ascend a position and end up in the fifth position. For its part, the Galician Tomás Vieito has finished at the seven of the male iQFoil.

In ILCA 6 the Andalusian Ana Moncada has been the most outstanding Spanish and has closed its participation in the seventh position while the Catalan Cristina Pujol has been the first.

In ILCA 7, in addition to Joel Rodríguez, the participation of Joaquín Blanco was planned. A positive in Covid-19 the day before the Mediterranean Games started prevented him from competing. The athletes have been accompanied by national coaches Jano Toro (ILCA 6 and 7), Mateo Sanz (iQFoil F) and Marcos Fernández (iQFoil M).

The fifth day of the Mediterranean Games, which have been fighting since Monday in Algeria, has had the male and female iQFoil fleets as the only protagonists, while the ILCA 6 and 7 enjoyed a day of rest.

Pilar Lamadrid, who led the fleet of women's iQFoil in the first compasses of the competition, has now gone down to the fourth position of the general and is located at eleven points of the podium. It should be recalled that 16 races have so far been held but that the organization allows for a single discard. In the case of Lamadrid is the UFD with which it was penalized in the Slalom test on Wednesday, which was later suspended for lack of stable conditions but which was retaken yesterday without the possibility of the Andalusian taking part in that race.

His partner Andre Torres has also dropped a step in the classification today and is in seventh position. The shooting has recorded a partial of 4 + 8 + 4 + 5 and its discards, for the moment, is a 12 of the Wednesday day.

In the male fleet, Ángel Granda continues in the sixth position, two points from the fifth classified. The canary started the Mediterranean Games with bad foot and added a RET to the first test of the championship by not going out on the right side. After that, he had problems in a slalom sleeve in which he added a DNF and was disqualified in another equal sleeve on the second day of competition. Still, Granda has managed to stay within the Top 10 and could rise some more posts before the end of the competition.

Who has taken advantage of the day to improve their overall results is Tomás Vieito, eighth in the absence of a day to close the pass to the medal race, reserved for the top 10 of the classification. The Galician windsurfer has gone from less to more during the competition and although he started out of the group of the top ten he has already managed to settle in it.

The ILCA 7, with Joel Rodríguez in second position, and the ILCA 6, with Ana Moncada 7 and Cristina Pujol 1, have now had a day of rest thanks to having completed the program planned to date. Tomorrow, like the iQFoil, they will fight the last fleet races before Sunday's Medal Race.

For the moment, Joel Rodríguez, second in ILCA 7, and Pilar Lamadrid, third in female iQFoil, lead Spain's options of getting a medal.

Joel Rodríguez continues in the second position of the ILCA 7 general at the end of the fourth day of competition of the Mediterranean Games. The canary today added a partial victory in the first manga and has finished the second test of the day in seventh position. In total, Rodríguez adds 30 net points, one more than the Italian Lorenzo Chiacarini, third. The lead is still for French Bernaz, with 14 points.

In ILCA 6, the Andalusian Ana Moncada remains in the seventh position after adding a 14 + 5 partial, while the Catalan Cristina Pujol goes up a step and stands at the 13th after recording two ocho in today's day.

The iQFoil have now recovered some of the tests they could not do yesterday and have returned to the ground after completing four sleeves the male fleet and five the female fleet.

Pilar Lamadrid has started the day by dragging the UFD from the slalom that yesterday could not be completed and this result has hit him to the third position of the general who now leads the Italian Marta Maggetti, with the French Helen Noesmoen in second position. For its part, the Andrea Torres Ballet is in sixth position. It should be noted that, with a maximum of 25 scheduled tests, the organization only allows for a discard.

In the male fleet, the Canary Angel Granda has repositioned and closes the day at place six while Tomás Vieito has managed to get into the Top 10 and is in the ninth position of the provisional general.

There are two more days of fleet competition ahead and one last day, Sunday, reserved for the Medal Race of each class in which the top ten of each category will participate.

The third day of the Mediterranean Games, which are being held in Oran, has been marked by the low intensity and instability of the wind. While ILCA 6 and 7, far away from coast, have performed the two scheduled races, the male iQFoil have added a single test and the female have not been able to complete any sleeve.

Joel Rodríguez has starred in the day in the ILCA 7 thanks to his partials today and to be able to apply a discard, the 16 of the inaugural day. The canary regatist, who started the day at place 5 of the general has finished the day in the second position. The lead is in the hands of French Jean Baptiste Bernaz, who holds the first position with eight net points against the 22 of Rodríguez and the Slovenian Zam Zelko, third tied to points with the Spanish.

The ILCA 6 have also been able to perform the two races planned for today and Ana Moncada has taken advantage of the day to climb up a further step and to be in the seventh position. The Andalusian has started the day with a partial victory but has been ninth in the second test. For its part, Cristina Pujol, who has added two octaves, has also managed to improve his position in the general, moving from the 18th to the 19th.

In male iQFoil today only one test was completed, in which Angel Granda was seventh and Tomás Vieito tenth. With these new results, Granda goes down to the ninth position of the general and Vieito stays at the tenth... andn the women's tables, the fleet has started a Slalom race in which Pilar Lamadrid has been penalized with an off-line but in the middle of the test the committee has suspended the race... however, if tomorrow the organizers decided to repeat this race, Lamadrid would be reflected in their locker the off-line today.

2022-06-28: Lamadrid is kept in the head of iQfoil at the Mediterranean Games

The Andalusian regatist continues to head the female iQFoil at the end of the second day

Pilar Lamadrid continues to lead the Mediterranean Games after completing the second day of competition in Oran, Algeria. The women's fleet of iQFoil has today made three slalom sleeves in which the Andaluza has added a 9, which becomes its discard, and a 3 + 2. These results keep you at the forefront of the classification although you continue to tie to points with the French Helen Noesmoen.

His partner Andrea Torres has resolved the day with three paintings on, which puts the balar regatist in the sixth position of the female fleet of the new Olympic windsurfing mode.

In the male iQFoil, the Canary Angel Granada improves the overall result of yesterday and closes the day in the sixth position. In the first manga of the day he finished eighth but added in the second a DNF that has become his discard, results to which he has added two quarters.

Tomás Vieito has added a 10 + 4 + 2 in the first tests but a DNF, which also becomes its discard, keeps him at the top 10 doors at post eleven.

Joel Rodríguez has managed to climb a step in the ILCA 7 general and is now in fifth position. However, the partials of the day of the canary regatist have been disparate: it began with a third position but has closed the second test by adding a ten to its locker.

Day of ups and downs also for the Spanish regatists in ILCA 6. In the first test of the day Cristina Pujol has added a 9 but in the second sleeve it has been penalized with two spikes and has had to be removed. For her part, Ana Moncada has started with an 18 but has been second in the last race of the day.

With these results, Moncada is in the eighth position and Pujol is in the eighteenth position of the provisional general. Tomorrow, after the sixth test dispute, at the moment they have four sailed, the only discards of the competition will come into play.
