Irene de Tomas, a regatist of the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia, has proven throughout the week to be one of the main candidates for victory in a fleet composed of 132 laser

The Valentian Irene de Tomás has today stood with the double title of European champion of ILCA 4 in both absolute category and Sub 16. To the success of the Spanish regatist is added the bronze medal obtained by the ballet Xavier García after six days of competition in waters of Dziwnów, Poland.

The European meeting began last Monday 20 with a high Spanish participation: 10 girls and 11 boys. At the end of the first three days of navigation more than half of the national representation got the pass to the gold groups, with seven women's regatists and seven men's. Today, Saturday, July 25, the ILCA 4 European Championship has come to an end with a blank, wind-free day, after which these medals have been confirmed.

With ten races in his locker, Thomas has three partial wins and a total of seven posts within the Top 10. These results have served him to become the new European champion of ILCA 4.

In the women's fleet she has highlighted the participation of Ana Rodríguez, sixth in the final general, and Adriana Castro, tenth. Maria Magdalena Villalonga has also ended up in post 22, being the sixth best regatist Sub 16. Alejandra Peleteiro (37), Alba Díaz (39), Patricia Caballero (52), Rocío Blázquez (75), Cristina Cardona (80) and Lucía Cardona (92) have also competed.

In the male category, the Xavier García ballast was made with the bronze medal in a fleet of 210 participants. At the end of the competition, the regatist of the Real Club Nautico de Palma has added points within the Top 10 in seven of the nine races that have been held. The victory has been for the Italian Giulio Genna, who has ended up tied to points with his compatriot Nicolò Cassitta, second.

Along with García, the Spanish Xavi Caldentey (35), Andrés Barrio (42), Miguel Rodríguez (44), Pol Núñez (54), Alfonso Pérez (55), Juan Santos (59), Daniel Giménez (81), Alberto Talens (84), Fernando Campos (88) and Karol Krupski (92) have competed in the European Championship of ILCA 4.

The Spanish fleet that competes at the ILCA 4 European Championship in Poland is showing a very high level: a total of 14 regatists, seven girls and seven boys, have managed to overcome the qualifying phase in gold group positions.

With three days of competition and six tests completed for the female category, the participation of the Valencian Irene de Tomas, second in the absolute general classification and second best Sub 16, is highlighted. In front of him is the Italian Carla Lorenzi, leader of the fleet with seven points of advantage over the Spanish one.

Within the top 10 female is also the balar Maria Magdalena Villalonga, absolute ninth and third Sub 16. Along with Villalonga and Tomás, they will compete for today in a gold group Ana Rodríguez (11), Adriana Castro (17), Alejandra Peleteiro (29), Alba Díaz (41) and Patricia Caballero (65)

In the male category, with five tests in three days of race, the ballet Xavier García occupies the fifth position of the general, being the best Spanish representative. Although in fifth position, García has 12 points, the same as the fourth. And from the first to the third position is given a triple tie to 9 points that, for the moment, favours the Greek Alexandros Eleftheriadis.

The Spanish Andrés Barrio (22), Xavi Caldentey (25), Alonso Pérez (36), Miguel Rodríguez (45), Juan Santos (55) and Pol Núñez (66) have also been granted a pass to the male gold group of the European Championship of ILCA 4.

The competition, which started last Monday... will end on Saturday, the day when the absolute podiums will be known as Sub 16 of the ILCA 4 continental.
