On the podium of the Naval Clube of Cascais he was accompanied by the Platoon of Harm Müller-Spreer and the Alegre of Andrés Soriano... the two sleeves disputed today in Cascais with spectacular conditions of wind and sea were won by Quantum himself and by the Provizza of the Turkish shipowner Ergin Imre.

2022-06-24: Quantum and Platoon alone against gold at the Rolex 52TP in Cascais

Platoon approaches only three points of the Quantum Racing waiting for the last two sleeves of the final day in the waters of Cascais... Sled was the best ship on the fourth day of race, with a first and a third (Photo Nico Martínez)

Platoon does not give the Rolex TP52 World Championship for lost... the other way around: he has put a good dose of spicy on a race that looked like a monologue of the Quantum Racing.

The ship of Harm Müller-Spreer today approached only three points from Doug DeVos after winning the second manga when the World Cup still has two exciting assaults left in the waters of the Naval Clube of Cascais. The first test of the day was won by Takashi Okura's Sled, which was the best boat in the water today, with a first and a third.

Platoon reached the beginning of the eighth test in Cascais eight points from the Quantum Racing. But a pinch of the Americans and the victory of the Germans in an arduous fight with the Protenzza has left the World Cup very open; so much so that either of these two teams can be proclaimed champion tomorrow little by little that things work out for him. It seems to be something already between the DeVos and the Müller-Spreer, and only the third place of the podium is open, for which Phoenix, Alegre, Vayu and Sled will fight, which face the final day grouped in only three points.

The two most pedigree ships in the 52 Super Series fleet will fight tomorrow for the final triumph. If Quantum wins, it will be his fourth hurdle since Rolex sponsored the World Cup; if Platoon does, he will match three wins in this prestigious test with the American project.

2022-06-23: Vayú is already second in the general, after Quantum at the Rolex 52TP in Cascais

Quantum is cut off on the Rolex TP52 World Championship general in a day in which Phoenix and Alegre win (Photo Nico Martínez)

Vayú is still surprised at the Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022. The new ship of experience and older of material has been incarnated to the second square of the general just two points from the leader Quantum Racing after making today a quarter and a second in the two sleeves disputed. The two victories today were given to them by Tony Norris's Phoenix and again by Andrés Soriano's Alegre, who thus won his third partial victory in the six sleeves.

The best way out was by Tony Norris's Phoenix for the pin. The wind was much more reliable on that side and taking the pin could decide when to turn and master the sleeve. Next to him was the Protenzza and the Platoon. Quantum Racing went back out the center of the fleet, minimizing the risks, that's his strategy.

Phoenix had been solid for the first two days, but without getting good results as it had to always go back as in the two sleeves in which it made an off-line. Today in the first manga of the day he embroidered it and won an undisputed victory supported by a reborn Provides with John Cutler to the cane. Third ended, as no, Quantum Racing and fourth did the no longer so surprising Vayu.

The second sleeve was something different. On the way out they dominated the ships that had decided to go on the committee side, the closest to the Boca del Hell. And there were the Alegre, the Vayu and the Sled. Those who left the most stuck to the viewer penalized the decision as was the case with the Phoenix and the Platoon. They came up very well, but the commitment allowed Alegre to pass the first one through the buoy of barlovento. Immediately after that, Takashi Okura's Sled did.

After overcoming the commitment from above Alegre moved to the ground leaving the right side of the open sea for the Sled who in the stern was fighting side by side with the English of Andrés Soriano to mount the sotavento door in the first place... for his part Sled left the second place in the hands of an agitated Vayu.

Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022 (After 6 tests)

  1. Quantum Racing (USA) (Doug DeVos) (2,2,2,3,3,6) 18 points.
  2. Vayu (THA) (Tom and Kevin Whitcraft) (3,6,3,2,4.2) 20 p.
  3. Platoon (GER) (Harm Müller-Spreer) (5,3,4,1,6,4) 23 p.
  4. Alegre (GBR) (Andrés Soriano) (1,8,1,9,5) 25 p.
  5. Phoenix (RSA) (Toni Norris) (4,4,4,4,1,8) 26 p.

2022-06-22: Rolex TP52 Cascais... wins for Alegre and Platoon... Quantum is still leader

The great surprise of this Cascais World Cup, the Vayu of the Withcraft family... which is third in the general

Quantum Racing set the tactic and almost the results of the first day on the second day of the Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022 and follows its triumphal path as a beekeeper. The ship of shipowner Doug DeVos made two other comfortable results with a second and a third to be held in the leadership of the second test of the season of the 2022 season of 52 Super Series that is held from the Naval Clube of Cascais. The sleeves of the day were won by the Alegre and the Platoon on another day of weak winds that were made to wait.

The first sleeve of the day was identical to yesterday's premiere. It was the Alegre who dominated the test from beginning to end with an exit from the left side of the race field. The sailing boat of Andrés Soriano was escorted by the Quantum, which again signed a second position showing its strength and leaving no room for the rivals to go subtracting points in the general.

The second sleeve of the day was marked by the wind role in the race field. It was the Platoon who best read the first and most complicated dyeing since there were infinite alternatives in the leadership. The ship of Harm Müller-Spreer was already after the first close-up comfortably in the leadership, taking care of a good exit followed by the Quantum Racing. But the great surprise of this World Cup, the Vayu of the Withcraft family, was able to go back to second position in the final stern and take a bath of happiness as they are now going home as third of the general.

Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022 (After 4 tests)

2022-06-21: Quantum, Platoon and Phoenix command in the Rolex TP 52 WC Series of Cascais

The American ship is the first leader of the Rolex TP52 World Championship on a first day of 52 Super Series in which the Alegre and Sled sleeves win

Quantum Racing is the first leader of the Rolex TP52 World Championship to be held from today until Saturday in the waters of the Cascais Naval Clube. The American sailboat sponsored by its shipowner Doug DeVos has claimed its consistency in 52 Super Series to sign two seconds on the first day of competition. The test has started unusually low winds in Portuguese waters between 6 and 10 knots. He is provisionally accompanied by the Platoon and Phoenix podium, both tied with 8 points.

Today's two sleeves have been won by the Alegre de Andrés Soriano and the Sled of Japanese shipowner Takashi Okura.

Quantum has started the season as a beekeeper. They trust everything to the soundness of the results with Terry Hutchinson making this theory a true mantra and faith that they are achieving it. Between Baiona and Cascais, ten sleeves have been held and the Americans have only added 23 points, giving them an average of 2.3 points per race. Unbeatable.

The first sleeve was for the Alegre with a west wind that did not exceed ten knots but came down to seven. The English ship of the shipowner Andrés Soriano founded his victory on an excellent exit that put him in a position to control the rest of the fleet.

In the second exit sleeve the good side was the committee side because the wind was rolling slowly to the right. There came the Gladiator and the Alegre who were the first to dominate the manga... but Quantum favored by a role... passed through the barlovento buoy in first position with a small rent on the Sled.

Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022 (After 2 tests)

  1. Quantum Racing (USA) (Doug DeVos) (2.2) 4 points.
  2. Platoon (GER) (Harm Müller-Spreer) (5.3) 8 p.
  3. Phoenix (RSA) (Toni Norris) (4.4)
  4. Sled (USA) (Takashi Okura) (8.1) 9 p.
  5. Alegre (GBR) (Andrés Soriano) (1.8) 9 p.
  6. Vayu (THA) (Tom and Kevin Whitcraft) (3.6) 9 p.
  7. Provides (TUR) (Ergin Imre) (6.5) 11 p.
  8. Gladiator (GBR) (Tony Langley) (9.7) 16 p.

2022-06-20: Tomorrow the Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022 begins in Portugal

Turn on the 52 Super Series for the beautiful Cascais (Photo Nico Martinez)

Nine ships have been competing since tomorrow in Cascais for one of the most prestigious trophies of the world's heavy sailing: the Rolex TP52 World Championship Cascais 2022.

Today in the official training race it started with knots knots. The official training was made up of a training exit and two sleeves of a sotavent barlovent that were won by the Quantum and the Providenza.

Everything is very open, so much so that there are up to four teams that you have serious options of proclaiming champions on the podium of the Cascais Naval Clube: Quantum, Sled, Platoon and Phoenix. By tradition, Doug DeVos's Quantum Racing should be put first.

The Americans have won the World Cup three times and come from winning in Baiona's waters the first test of the 2022 season of 52 Super Series.

DeVos had been without an event since 2019, their last victory was in Cascais in 2019. A very long streak for the team that has historically dominated the Circuit... in Baiona they defeated and convinced with a very solid work and in Cascais they intend to continue in this line of results.

Platoon is part of a great favorite, along with Sled de Takashi Okura, who defends the title won in November last year in the waters of the RCN Palma, and the Phoenix of the Plattner family.

For its part, the Phoenix has a superlative team and with the arrival of the Australian Tom Slingsby to the tactic they have become a constant candidate for final victory. They have already prayed on several occasions for the triumph and, without a doubt, with Tony Norris to the cane, they are one of the teams to be considered in CN de Cascais waters.
