The Tarhunz, by Diego de las Heras, 5 minutes and 52 seconds from the absolute victory in the tenth edition of the Sitges- Ciutdadella Regata

The Sitges- Ciutadella Regata ended with a happy end, after Thursday's concern and the almost despair of Friday... in the face of a situation of very worrying lack of wind, to the extent that it was almost taken for granted that no one would reach, within the time limit, the arrival.

For this reason on the Saturday morning of the 19 ships that had taken the exit, there were only three in the race: the Vinga, Swan 391 of the Swiss Roman Orbist and the Diabolic, Sunf Fast 35 of the Belgian Glen de Brouwer.

The third boat in liza is worth mentioning, as the Tarhunz, the X41 of Diego de las Heras, co-sponsored by Oriol Tomás Ortiz, in category A2 and competing for the Club Marítimo de Torredembarra fought against the chrono until the end and was the only ship to cross the line of arrival in front of the Castell de San Nicolás in Ciutadella.

After more than 31 hours of effort to make the most of your ship in front of the loose and variable winds, they exceeded the limit time, set at 20: 30 on Saturday, for just 5 minutes and 53 seconds, just under 6 minutes that took them away from the absolute victory.

2022-06-18: The wind is absent on the tenth anniversary of the Sitges- Ciutadella Regata

Tenth anniversary of one of the cruise events organized with the tutelage of the great promoter of nautical events and unforgettable editor... Enrique Gómez Curt: La Regata Sitges-Ciutadella.

At the pattern meeting it was already advanced that the wind forecasts were not very hopeful. Indeed, at the time of giving the exit, scheduled for 11: 00 on Friday 17, the wind reigned by its absence.

The race committee was forced to postpone the departure and decided to cut the route. He drove the fleet to Ciudadela, with a double objective: to cut the road to the forecast of weak breezes for the whole day and to search for a free wind in the sea, outside the detour that produces the Garraf massif, off the coast of Sitges.

Finally the exit takes place at 13: 16: 00 to 10 miles from Port de Sitges, with a ponyant wind of 5-6 knots. Among the 19 ships taking the exit was the presence of two single sailors: Jaume Mercader with the Zeta (X372) and Eduardo de las Heras, with the Esther (Visiers Fortuna 9).

A total of six vessels participate in category A2, highlighting the presence of the Belgian team Glenn de Brouwer, on board the Didiabolic (Sun Fast 35), the Tarhunz (X41) patrolling by Diego de las Heras and Gida III (Grand Soleil 43) by David Rabadan.

The category of Full Crew, had 11 ships, including representatives of both the town of departure, with the Meigas Fora (X99) of the Sitges Sea Club, patronised by Jaume Llobet, and of the club hosting the arrival, with the Pim Pam (First 40.7) patrolling by the Danish Jesper Bejer competing for the Níutic Ciutadella Club.

In the face of a lack of wind throughout Friday and Saturday night, the progress of the fleet has been really slow... being confirmed that at least five ships have already reported their withdrawal from the race, and there are serious doubts as to whether any participant will be able to cross the line of arrival in front of the Nàutic Ciutadella Club before the time limit, set at 20: 30 this Saturday.
