It has always been linked to the sea, as a shipowner, regatist and dynamic of nautical competitions, is also, as Fernando Cobián pointed out, the patriarch of a whole family saga with vocation to the sea, with great regatists who have walked the name of A Coruña throughout the world, stressing also that Enrique Vilariño is the living history not only of the Nautico but of the city, for its vitality and entrepreneurial capacity. In that act Enrique Vilariño was accompanied by his wife María Luisa Durán Tojeiro and his whole family

Enrique Vilariño de Llano, in the course of a simple but emotional act, was honored at the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, by naming him Partner of Honor. With Fernando Cobián, as president of the Club, who was accompanied by the board of directors and about 40 more Enrique Vilariño received a commemorative plaque in recognition of his long professional and sports life that leaves a great mark and respect in the City.

Don Enrique has been for the modern Galician candle, a fundamental factor in his development... and even though all the recognitions made to him are welcome and of justice (like the one that was made a few years ago in the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo by naming him the Commodore of Honor of the Rías Baixas Regata, in union with his wife Maria Luis Durán Tojeiro)... we cannot forget that his figure for the candle, for La Coruña and for Galicia... is unrepeatable and out of standard... and as out of standard... we are simply in debt to him.
