The town of Luceni, more than 200 km from the coast, has become this weekend the epicenter of a sport that is usually practiced at sea. Since Friday, the southern spot of the Loteta reservoir has hosted the Spanish Cup of inland waters in kitefoil mode.
This is the second edition officially held by the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela, after last year's first edition was held in the Alarcón reservoir in the province of Cuenca.
The event has had the participation of 14 regatists who have arrived from seven different autonomous communities: Madrid, Murcia, Castilla La Mancha, La Rioja, País Vasco, Comunidad Valenciana and Aragon.
In the race, Juan Manuel Goytia (CKSC, Fédération de Vela de Castilla La Mancha) and Patrick Saury (CKLL, Fédération Aragonesa de Vela) were imposed, and Vicente González (Club Eolo, Fédération de Vela Comunidad Valenciana) were placed in second and third place respectively. While, in the Spanish Cup of inland waters, Goytia and Saury have been placed first and second and Imanol Bárcena (CKLL, the Aragonese Federation of Vela) have been placed in third position.
The Spanish Cup, organized by the Club Kitesurf La Loteta and which has the Aragonese Vela Federation as a collaborator, has been possible in Luceni thanks to the support of the Government of Aragon, Provincial Council of Zaragoza, the Region of the Alta Ribera del Ebro and the City of Luceni... and has the sponsorship of Aragon Tourism, Ambar, Trangoworld and Volkswagen.
