Spain ends with silver medal in female Formula Kite, by Gisela Pulido, the Allianz Regatta, second test of the Hempel World Cup, World Sailing World Cup.

The Catalan regatist reached the last day with a direct pass to the great final thanks to her second place in the general classification, after going back a week in which she has gone from less to more.

In the last round, played among the four best regatists of the championship, Dutch Annelly Lammerts left with two wins on her score and Polido with one. The final triumph would be for the first one to add up three first. Lammerts took the game and Polido hung a well-deserved silver after overcoming a few complicated first days for having been sick the two weeks before the competition.

In the male category, Alejandro Climent obtained the pass to the semifinals with position 14 of the general. In two groups, the winner of each of them would go on to compete in the big final to four. Climent added two quarters to finish in the tenth position of the general.

Adelaide Marquenie, second female in competition in this class has been 15th, and same position for Bernat Cortés in male.

The next appointment for the class will be the Formula Kite & A's Grand Prix, to be held between June 23 and 26 in Campione di Garda, Italy, the last test to define the ranking that the places give for the class world.

Spain has also had participation in the Allianz Regatta in Nacra 17 with Iset Segura and Marcos Fernández who have finished at post 9 of the general, and Martina Reino in ILCA6 which has been 18. Both classes finished their race series yesterday.

The last day of the second World Sailing Cup of 2022 that is being held in the Netherlands will be held tomorrow with the presence of Gisela Polido in the great final four of the Formula Kite Women.

The Catalan regatist has obtained the direct pass to the race through the medals thanks to occupying the second position of the general classification, after four days of competition and a total of fifteen completed tests.

While Pulido did not have a hopeful start, he signed two consecutive DNF, his results have been, with the exception of the two cited and an exceptional DSQ on the second day, with four partial wins and four second positions. With 15 races in the locker, the fleet has been able to rule out its three worst results and this has placed Pulido in medal posts.

The national coach of Formula Kite, Antonio Minguez, has positively valued the performance of the Spanish sportsman. "The two weeks before the Gisela race had been ill and has been finding itself better day by day. Today's day has been ideal for her, with 13-14 knots of wind, and in the end it has shown that she is a clear seeker for victory."

The final race is played by four athletes and it is necessary to add three wins to get the gold. The first classified of the general goes to this last test with two wins and the second, Gisela Polido, does with one. The other two squares will be decided in a semi-finals between the regatists that occupy from the third to the fourteenth square, entering the race for the medals with zero wins.

Adelaide Marquenie, for her part, ends her participation in the second World Sailing Cup, which organizes the World Sailing in the 15th place of the Women's Kite Formula, just behind the cut to access the semifinals of tomorrow.

In Formula Kite Male, Alex Citation (15) and Bernardo Cortés (16) have stayed for one and two points respectively at the door of being able to compete in the final series.

Also, yesterday ended the competition for the Nacra 17 and the ILCA 6, fleets in which there was Spanish representation. Iset Segura and Marcos Fernández, have finished at post 9 of the general, composed of fifteen catamarans. In the female dyghy, Martina Reino has completed 18 in a fleet of 57 women.

Tomorrow begins in Almere-Lelystad, the Netherlands, the Allianz Regatta for the Formula Kite class, in which members of the pre-Olympic team Gisela Polido and Alejandro Citation participate. In addition, the Spanish Adelaide Marquenie in Female Formula Kite, Bernat Cortes in Male Formula Kite, Martina Reino in ILCA6 and Iset Segura and Marcos Fernández in Nacra17 also play this championship.

The traditional Dutch race, which changes this year of stage leaving its usual headquarters in Medemblick, is included in the Helpel World Cup Series.

The program for all classes includes five days of race, starting today day 31 for the bulk of the fleets, which will end on Saturday 4, while the Formula Kite and the iQFoil will sail from tomorrow day 1 to Sunday 5.

As usual, the Kite Formula will play an Open Series followed by the Medal Series, in which the regatists classified between post 3 and 14 will face in the Semifinal in two groups. The winner of each group will sail, along with posts 1 and 2 that get the direct pass, in the Final that will be decided to three wins.

With five days ahead, the first goal for both Polido and Alejandro Climent and Bernat Cortés is to pass the cut of the semifinals in the best possible position.
