The national expedition participated in the world event with 16 athletes, forming four boats in the female category and five in the male category
The first World Cup of the season has been held in the city of Belgrade in Serbia. Spain came with a total of nine vessels, and four have managed to get on the podium.
The first medal was obtained by Natalia of Miguel in the female light skiff (LW1x), left only behind the United States and the Netherlands. Also bronze were Aleix García and Rodrigo Conde in the double heavy scull (M2x), when they arrived behind Croatia and Poland.
The silver medals were obtained by the Olympic Jaime Canalejo and Javier García, in the two without (M2-), and Caetano Horta and Manel Balastegui, in the double light scull (LM2x). The former were only overcome by Britain, while the latter, on an equal goal, ended up behind Switzerland and ahead of the Czech Republic.
He stayed a step away from the Daniel Gutiérrez podium, which finished fourth in light skiff (LM1x). The four without a female (W4-), formed by the Olympic diploma Aina Cid along with Nuria Puig, Iria Jarama and Julia Ros, was sixth.
The rest of the ships decided their final position in the B Finals of their respective categories. Rocío Lao and Ana Navarro, who competed in double scull light (LW2x) finished first. The Olympic finalist in Tokyo, Virginia Díaz, was fourth in Skiff (W1x). And in the same mode, but male (M1x), Jordi Jofre was third.
This is the best result in the history of the Spanish rowing in a World Cup... the next international meeting of our team will be from 8 to 10 July, with the 3rd World Cup, on the Swiss track of Lucerne.
