It will be a tribute to the Spanish and Portuguese armed forces when the 500 anniversary of the first round of the world is celebrated

The Coruña will mark the departure of the 2022 edition of the Regata Discoveries Race on July 19, this was expressed by the Grand Master of the European Confraternity of the Sailing, Francisco Quiroga, in the presentation that took place today at the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña.

The Spanish-Portuguese Atlantic Regatta Discovers Race 2022 will take place this summer from July 19 to August 7 and will leave from the Herculine city... with the end in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

When the 500 anniversary of the first round of the world led by Fernando de Magallanes and completed by Juan Sebastián de Elcano is celebrated, this year's edition will be a tribute to the Spanish and Portuguese armed forces, who since the first edition have bet on the Discoveries Race giving up their infrastructure.

Francisco Quiroga expressed his satisfaction at being the most important race-cruise in the Western European and at the same time stressed the hardness of this ocean race of more than 1,100 miles.

Created by the European Vela Confraternity and organized by the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Real Club Náutico de Portosín, Clube de Vela Atlántico, Clube Nautico de Sines, Associaçao Regional de Vela da Madeira and the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria; will have as its route and stops in La Coruña-Portosín -Sines-Funchal-Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Ships may participate from 30 feet in length in two categories, ORC and Open... the registration period will end on 3 July 2022 at 24 hours.
