The Xacobea Nautical Trip, organized by ASNAUGA, in this year Xacobeo 2022 will leave next May 28 from Barbate (Cadiz) and will arrive to Santiago de Compostela on June 13
The Xacobea Nautical Trip 2022 will leave the port of Barbate, in Cadiz, on May 28, and will arrive in Santiago de Compostela on June 13, after climbing the Portuguese coast along the Atlantic and stressing in several of its marinas, entering Galicia by Baiona, to travel the Rías Baixas (Pontevedra and Arousa) to the Royal Nautical Club of Portosín (Porto do Son), to continue the road on foot to the Praza do Obradoiro from the pilgrims' hostel of O Milladoiro.
This nautical pilgrimage route was presented on Tuesday at the Nautical Club of Portonovo, where the mayor of Sanxenxo Telmo Martin, the president of Portos de Galicia Susana Lenguas, the Commissioner of the Xacobeo Cecilia Pereira, and La conselleira do Mar, Rosa Quintana, who has been encouraging all the sailors of Galicia, Spain "and the whole world" to do the Way of Santiago by sea to know "the charms of Galicia from a different perspective, bordering its coasts."
In this same line, Quintana has emphasized that the participants will be able to enjoy a "special and unique" maritime route that imitates the arrival of the remains of the apostle to Galician lands on board the legendary stone boat. La Conselleira continued to explain that this Sea Trip is a 90-mile sailing pilgrimage to the last Galician marina and continues on foot on the official route of the Portuguese Way for seven kilometres, from O Milladeiro (Ames) to Santiago de Compostela.
In addition, it has highlighted the private public collaboration to promote this journey, in which the Xunta de Galicia (through Portos and Tourism of Galicia) and the Junta de Andalucía (through Ports of Andalusia) collaborate, and that they have chartered a boat that will do all the way with specialized media, sectoral representatives and guests of the two administrations on board, to "disseminate the importance of the Camino de Santiago by sea and to extend its international impact."
The president of Asnauga stressed that this route is the first tourist route of Spain to obtain the certificate "Q" of quality... and continued to comment that The Nautical Journey Xacobea is the option to realize the Way of Santiago in a different way, by sea, and to achieve "La Compostela," combining navigation and land route.
The objectives
The Xacobea Nautical Route aims to enhance and rescue this road by sea, a path of pilgrimage, which already began in the middle age, and which wants to combine and unite spirituality and religiosity with nautical tourism
To consolidate and officially recognize the path of Maritime Pilgrimage that existed in the Middle Ages, as one of the more pilgrimage routes.
Divulge culture, gastronomy, maritime heritage, marine tourism, as well as its customs in the ports of recaladada, and help to protect its environment.
Last, all present encouraged the Galician ships and sailors to join from Baiona to relax this route or any section of it, as they can join in any port of recaladade of this journey
