Nautica Digital Europe Sports Highlights Sailing

The great farewell of the 18th PalmaVela, which organizes the Royal Nautical Club of Palma and gives the gunshot to the season of great races in the Mediterranean. Today the last of the four days of competition has been held with good conditions of wind and at the expected time

I finish in Mallorcan waters the tenth edition of the PalmaVela, which has offered the following winners of the classes that have participated... Galateia (IRC / IMA Maxi Yachts), Pez de Abril (ClubSwan 42), Urbania (ORC 0-1), Elena Nova (ORC 2), Lady (ORC 3), Immac Fram (ORC 4-5), Kyo V (ORC A2), Dorsia Coviran (J80), Powow (Dragon) and Sails (Spirit of Tradition).

In the large segments armed and patronized by Andrea Remarati, today he has signed a second job, raising a position in the general to finish second followed by Sir Lidnsay Owen-Jones's Magic Carpet 3 and which has the Spanish Carlos Hernández, Carlos Ruigómez, Miguel Jáuregui and Juan Meseguer among his crew.

Exciting day for ClubSwan 42. Since the first day of the race, on Thursday, the general of this class has been very equal with the Nadir of Pedro Vaquer (CVP Andratx) always at the highest but feeling without rest the pressure of April Fish, by José Mª Meseguer.
April fish didn't fail. It was from less to more, second in the first manga of the day, winner in the second and winner of the 18th PalmaVela, while Nadir could not go from a 4-3 partial that did not allow him to revalidate the title obtained last year.

The winner of the 24.6-mile (almost 46 km) coastal race today, the boat of the CN El Balís Urbania has managed to recover the leadership that was taken from him yesterday by the Aifos 500 and proclaims to be the winner of the 18th PalmaVela in ORC 0-1. The ship of the Spanish Navy, with Admiral Jaime-Touges in command, was fourth on the coast. Complete the podium of this class the ship of the RCN of Valencia Brujo.

The 2-3 ORC class today has done a Barlovento-Sotavento test that has won a ship that yesterday was not on the podium, M8 (RCN Valencia). However, this victory has not been enough to beat the Elena Nova of Christian Plump (RCNP), which today came out into the water with a four-point advantage over the second and six over the third.

The second race of the day for the 2-3 ORC had to be cancelled by a 90-degree roll at the edge of the time limit, just as it happened to the class ORC 3, in which the Lady of Nicolás González has confirmed his clear leadership - four tests, four first - and proclaims, unbeatable, winner of the 18th PalmaVela.

Almost on the same line, the German Immac Fram, champion of the 18th PalmaVela, is in ORC 4-5. Patroned by Kai Mares, those of the Kiel Nautical Club, have won all the sleeves of this 18th edition except for one. Just the Job has been second and Meerblick Fun, third.

Dorsia Covirán of the Olympic bimedalist Natalia Vía-Dufresne (3-1-1-3-2-1-1-2) and Kyo V (1-1) confirm their victory in J80 and ORC A2, respectively, while the Dragon and Spirit of Tradition classes close this 18th PalmaVela with two new winners who have risen to the top of the podium on this last day: Powwow and January Sails.

From eight to 15 knots of wind, with changes in very tight general classifications and with leaders who hold on to the top of their classes. This is the last day of the 18th PalmaVela, a new day of races in which today the 10 classes have competed with the addition of the ABC A2, the only ones that compete with only two crew members on board.

All classes have completed the program planned for today. The provisional leaders for the final day of tomorrow are: Galateia (IRC / IMA Maxi Yachts), Nadir (ClubSwan 42), Aifos 500 (ORC 0-1), Elena Nova (ORC 2), Lady (ORC 3), Immac Fram (ORC 4-5), Kyo V (ORC A2), Dorsia Coviran (J80), Yeahnah (Dragon) and Legolas (Spirit of Tradition).

Two more Barlovento / Sotavento tests for the largest in the fleet, to which only one test is left to complete the 18th PalmaVela. Galateia, the giant patronized by David Leuschen, has added two new partial wins in a locker where everything is victories.

With a total of five already disputed tests, the fleet can already rule out its worst result so far, leaving the ship with Jordi Calafat on board as leader with six points of advantage over the second, Magic Carpet 3, and seven over the third, the Italian Bullit.

The class has only one last sleeve left for tomorrow, which can be coastal or a Barlovento / Sotavento format stick.

ClubSwan 42 has not been bored with three more tests in which they have experienced a change or shortening of the route in all of them.

One more day, Pez de Abril (1-2-1) and Nadir (3-1-2), the only two Spaniards in the fleet, starred in the real fight for victory, with the third ranked Long Echo (2-5-4) ten points away in the general classification.

Nadir maintains the guy for the third day in a row despite the pressure of José Mª Meseguer's ship, and continues to lead with just one point of advantage over April Fish. Even two tests can be done tomorrow.

The triple tie that was yesterday in ORC 0-1 is broken today in favor of the ship of the Spanish Navy Aifos 500, patrolled by Admiral Jaime Rodriez-Touges, who is the new leader of the class after having signed some 1-3. With two more completed tests in the race field closest to the Arenal, Brujo, of RCN Valencia, hangs on the podium to climb up to the second square while Urbania gives in the first place and goes down to the third.

Inthe race field Charlie, the farthest to the Royal Nautical Club of Palma, up to four classes have sailed a coastal route of 18.5 nautical miles (more than 34 km) through the bay of Palma that has passed through Sa Porrasa and the Island of the Sech.

Elena Nova (ORC 2) and Lady (ORC3) win today and maintain the first position of the general. The winner of the last edition of PalmaVela in the Spirit of Tradition, Legolas, has been imposed on January Sails, who gives him the general leadership even though they are tied to three points.

The ABC A2 class was the only one missing to debut in this PalmaVela and has done so with a coastal where Kyo V, tripulated by Guillermo Abad and Guillermo Durán, has taken over five minutes of Blue Flag's advantage from the RCNP.

The fleets that sail in the Alfa field always have the privilege of being able to admire from the sea the imposing cathedral of Mallorca. Three tests have added the smaller monotypes of the fleet: the J80 and the Dragon, which are still led for the second consecutive day by Dorsia Coviran and Yeahnah, respectively.

Immac Fram (4-1) continues at the top of the 4-5 ORC general, although Meerblick Fun (2-2) is dangerously approaching and tomorrow they will go out to the race field with only one point of difference in the general.

The 18th PalmaVela will be decided tomorrow with the last day dispute from 12: 00.

There were no surprises in the final classification of La Larga-The Offshore Race of PalmaVela, the height race of the Royal Nautical Club of Palma that for the second year has opened the program of PalmaVela.

The Spanish Pelotari Project, by the shipowner Andrés Varela and patronized by Jonsi I followed with Luis Doreto in his crew, was awarded with authority the victory in the class ORC 0-1 after completing the 190-mile journey in the Balearic waters in a time of 28: 51: 24 and obtaining an income of more than one hour in compensated time on the second classified, the Dutch Silveren Swaen, by Frank Werst, which needed almost 36 hours to travel the same journey.

The third position was for the Dutch also Vertigo, by Robert in den Haak, who entered ten minutes after his predecessor.

The crossing of the ORC 0-1 sailed and concluded in front of the Cathedral of Mallorca after passing through the islands of Dragonera (west of Mallorca), Tagomago (north-east of Ibiza), Cabrera (south of Mallorca) and a beacon on the coast of Portolocom (east of Mallorca).

In total, 190 miles in which the participants had to adapt to different conditions and deal with some of the crouches.

The winners of the reduced version of La Larga, for the classes ORC 2-3 and ORC A2 (two crew members), met yesterday. In this case, the tour was identical to the previous one, with the exception of the passage through Tagomago, and consisted of 135 miles.

The Rockall, of the shipowner Christopher Opielok, marked a record of 26: 52: 96 and obtained an advantage of eight minutes in compensated time over the second classified, the J109 Huayra, of José Antonio Martín, who stopped the horn in 27: 27: 04.

The third position was for the fastest boat in its real category, Plan B, a Brenta 42 owned by Christoph Mann, which completed the journey in 25: 10: 45, but ended up giving in 13 minutes as soon as the correction formula was applied.

The J99 K Meerblick Fun, by Gabriele Pohlmann, took the victory in ORC A2, class for two crew members, with a 27: 10: 09 mark that represented a income of little less than nine minutes on the First 37.7 Blaumarina, patrolled by Miquel Tejat, who always sailed in the stern of the fleet due to the lower length and speed of his ship, but who was able to defend his own rating with great skill.

He completed the podium of this class the Smerit, by Tito Moure, the first ship to cross the arrival line with a 24: 32: 45 chrono, although he ended up giving up almost 20 minutes in compensation for the champion. This category carried out the same route as the ABC class 2-3.
