The Gold River Race, the Regata of the Golden River... is in honor of the Galician Roman past of Augustus times, when the Galician-Leonese rivers thanks to their great auriferous reserves, supported Rome economically.

In 2021 the Gold River Race began in the village of Quiroga in the eastern area of Galicia, which is very close to the Community of Castilla and León... and it was announced that the east exit would alternate... even from Ponferrada... to begin in Lugo capital... so this year it will start from the old Lucus... the two-millennia Lugo at the foot of its spectacular Roman Bridge, where it has its facilities the prestigious Club Fluvial, which together with the Cidade of Lugo of Piragüismo is immersed in the organization... and that is also the cradle of Galagüica.

The second act bears the seal of the Ribeiro and the Ourense Dependation... with a departure from Ponte Nova from the very center of Ourense to Castrelo de Miño. Here are about 30 km, with two flying goals: Toen and Cenlle, and a portet in Barbantes; as the end the Regata Receptación de Pontevedra Gran Prix Lordorío de Blubias... with the presence of Crecente, Arbo, de As Neves; and final in Salvaterra de Miño, in its incomparable medieval fortress.

In competition more than 50 K2 among those will be Ivan Alonso of the Olívico de Vigo (with 3 World and 6 European in their own), which will compete with José Barreiro of the Torres de Catoira. Another of the favorites is the Tandem astur-leonés José Julián Becerro and Miguel Fernández Castañón, who are the current Spanish champions and who are the winners of the last edition of the International Seal Discount.

On May 13, at 10: 00 in the morning, the Gold River Race begins with one of the most beautiful river tracks in the world, in which the Lucense Martín Carballo and the Orensian Santiago Carvajal have worked in the technical section.
