The Palma International Boat Show opens the doors at the Moll Vell with record of participating companies
The President of the Govern, Francina Armengol, and the Vice President and Conseller of Energy Transition, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, Juan Pedro Yllanes, have opened a new edition of the Palma International Boat Show this morning at the Moll Vell in Palma. The nautical fair, which can be visited until the 1st of May, is organized by the Institute of Business Innovation of the Balearic Islands (IDI), under the responsibility of the Vice-Presidency and Energy Transition Council, Productive Sectors and Democratic Memory, and the Balearic Yacht Brokers Association (BYBA).
The new edition of the Palma International Boat Show has 276 participating companies, six more than in 2019 and 49 more than last year, an increase of 21% from 2021. In addition, a total of 264 vessels will be exposed at sea.
One of the highlights of the new edition is the participation of new companies that had never been part of the PIBS. In particular, 28% of exhibitors are the first time they come to Palma to show the nautical news. As for the offer, the PIBS will be the scene of presentations of new products and ships worldwide, as it is the first nautical fair of this year's season and many shipyards have chosen Palma to present the new models.
It also highlights the increase in the exposure of sailing, one of the most sustainable navigation systems at sea. Apart from this, the segment of hybrid or electric vessels is growing again, as are the products most sustainable and compatible with sea protection. It is worth noting the interest that this next edition has aroused among local (54%), national (18%) and international (28%) companies. In fact, the Palma International Boat Show has over the last few years become the event that premiere the nautical season and one of the most important entry doors of international companies that want to establish themselves on the islands, or to establish relations with local firms and thus open new ways of business.
The Palma International Boat Show includes the Palma Superyacht Village, for sale and rental of boats over 24 metres long. This year it is characterized by the largest exhibition of sailing boats in Europe, apart from a large offer on motor boats.
This area also includes the area dedicated to the repair and maintenance of ships (refit & repair), which this year has the participation of 21 companies dedicated to this activity of the nautical industry, as well as service companies in other areas of the fair. On the other hand, the Palma Superyacht Village will open a new area dedicated to the crew in which specialized activities and formations will be carried out, a growth bet for the coming years.
