The Magical of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, the Sagar V of the Ro Yacht Club of Commud and the Secolite, the Yess, the Alboroto and the Bouvento of the Monte Real Club of Yates of Baiona were winners of the different classes in liza... the special prize of 7,000 euros of sponsorship to the best J80 was taken by the Alboroto of Javier Aguado and the Silleiro of Angela Rodríguez was made with the trophy to the best female crew (Rosana Calvo and Antania Martínez)

He ended up in Galician waters, the Repsol Regata heiress of the Spring Trophy that was born of the hand of Gloria Faria with the name of Trophy Gloria in 1978, and then in the 1980s he was named General Optica Regata and in the 90's that of Regata Bombay Gin, which was one of the first Spanish cruise races to be used first in CHS as handicap and later the IMS.

In ORC 1-2-3, the winner was the Magic of Julio Rodríguez. His victory just a few weeks ago in the Community Trophy and this new victory in the Repsol Trophy make it clear that the crew of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo will be one of the teams to be considered in the Galician regatta season. The Sailway of Rodrigo Ojea (CM Canido); and the Oils of Jorge Pérez Canal (RCN Vigo), were left second and third respectively.

In ORC 4, the Sagar V of Rolando Andrade, of Ro Yacht Club of Commud, took away the laurels of a class in which the Deep Blue 2.1 of Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo) and the Maracaná of Carlos García (RCM Aguete) were made with silver and bronze.

In ORC 5, two ships from Monte Real ended in first and second position: the Secolite of Javier Rey and the Bouvento of Óscar José Comesaña. The Marcolfo of Antonio Francisco Gómez, from the nautical of Vigo, occupied the third drawer of the podium.

In ORC A2, the good hand-in-hand that starred Portuguese Rui Ramada and the Galician Óscar Peixoto on board the Yess of the MRCYB, allowed them to take over the triumph and to impose themselves on the Vagalume of Luis Vidal and Eva Fernández, which was second.

In J80, Javier Aguado's Alboroto was crowned as a worthy class winner, after signing two first positions in the two disputed trials. He left the silver and bronze to the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara and the Cansino of Alejandra Suárez.

In the category Figaro, the Bouvento de Óscar José Comesaña, the Silleiro de Angela Rodríguez and the Erizana de Marta Quintás finished first, second and third.

2022-04-30: Magical de Julio Rodríguez dominates a Repsol that ends tomorrow in Baiona

The weather again altered for the second day in a row the development of the Repsol Trophy and the more than 40 sailing boats that are in the competition in the Rías Baixas had to face an intense fog this Saturday (Photo Rosana Calvo)

Second day of the Repsol in the waters of the Galician Rías Baixas, already with the ORC cruises in action, which joined the fleet of the J80 monotypes that began on Friday. The Saturday test was a coast between Baiona and the island of Tambo, which in other times hosted a great Navy powder in the heart of Pontevedra, in front of the facilities of the Marin Military Naval School.

The winds that started to loose, of just five knots... were in crescendo to even reach the fifteen knots.

In the class ORC 1-2-3, the ships of Vigo and Canido went directly to the highest positions of the classification. The Magical of Julio Rodríguez (RCN Vigo) was the fastest to complete the test, in 2 hours and 14 minutes, and has provisional gold. In second position was placed the Sailway of Rodrigo Ojea (CM Canido); and the Oils April, patrolled by Jorge Pérez Canal (RCN Vigo), goes third.

In ORC 4, the Sagar V of Rolando Andrade (Ro Yacht Club) scored the best score of the day, going directly to the first place. The list of the three best of the day is completed by the Deep Blue 2.1 of Vicente Cid (RCN Vigo) and the Maracaná of Carlos García (RCM Aguete).

The competition of the ORC 5 was resolved with the victory of the Secolite of Javier Rey (MRCYB). The Bouvento de Óscar José Comesaña (MRCYB) will face the last day from the second position and the Marcolfo de Antonio Francisco Gómez (RNC) will arrive third to the final.

The crew formed by the Portuguese Rui Ramada and the Galician Óscar González Peixoto was the best in the class ORC A2, which was put in place with teams made up of only two people. The Vagalume de Luis Vidal and Eva Fernández go second.

In the J80 class, Javier Aguado's Alboroto faced this second day from the position of leader and did not disappoint. He renavigated very well and achieved a new victory that allows him to maintain the domain and brings him even closer to the laurels. With 2 points in the provisional classification, it is removed from the 5 that has the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara, second on the table; and from the 9 of the Cansino of Alejandra Suárez, which occupies the third drawer.

In the category Figaro, which although competing within ORC will receive awards as its own class, the Bouvento de Óscar José Comesaña was the best. The Silleiro de Angela Rodríguez and the Erizana de Marta Quintás, all of the Monte Real, go second and third.

After the celebration of the Friday sticks for the J80 and the race to Commud this Saturday, the Repsol Trophy has only one day left to discover its winners. The titles will be decided on Sunday to a single letter, a single 23-mile test between Comarto and Baiona for the more than 40 crews aspiring to the different trophies.

2022-04-29: More J80, who were the exclusive protagonists of the Repsol in the first round

The J80 armed by Juan Carlos Ameneiro and patroniado by which he was Spanish champion of the class, sailed the double route barlovento sotavento designed by the regatta committee in a very solid way, always at the head of the fleet, without giving a second truce to its rivals (Photo Rosana Calvo)

The Alboroto de Javier Aguado was placed on Friday at the front of the Repsol Trophy after winning the first and only test that could be disputed in the inaugural day of the competition organized by the Monte Real Club de Yates.

The Maries of Manel Cunha and the Okofen of Javier de la Gandara pursued him untiring throughout the route, approaching on many occasions, but although the distances were minimal at times, and although both of them were able to read the wind very well and did not fail in the maneuvers, one or the other were able to overcome it.

After the Alboroto go the Marías and the Okofen, second and third respectively; and the Solventis de Manuel Jiménez and the Hullmaxx de Chisco Catalán close the classification of the five best of a competition that is still two days away.

On the second day of the trophy, which will start at 12: 00 noon this Saturday, we will be able to see the entire fleet in the water... the more than 40 registered with a tour of about 23 miles to Commud.

2022-04-28: Repsol Trophy in Baiona for Commud and cash prize for J80

In the 1980s he became among the three main Spanish races, along with the King's Cup and the Sherry... of that one was called General Optic Regata... the Bribon competed, as well as ships from all over Spain... and eye to the data: with direct TV programs that broadcast the only Telemadrid, TV3-Canal 33, ETB and TVG... other times

The Monte Real Club de Yates and Repsol, from Friday until Sunday, put in place the classic Spring Regata, one of the longest dates of the Spanish nautical calendar, which this year meets its forty-fourth edition with the participation of more than 40 ships and new developments in its sports program.

Among the changes introduced in the competition, the first and most prominent is that the coastal regats are recovered back and forth between the Rias of Vigo and Pontevedra. In 2016 the last competition was held with this design, with a navigation to Sanxenxo; and after years moving through the Ria de Vigo and the archipelago of the Cies and Ons, in this 2022 the Monte Real Club of Yates chose Commud as port of destination.

During the weekend the two coastal races will be held, but the Repsol Trophy this 2022 will include three more tests, Friday afternoon. There will be three routes of the barlovent type sotavento in which the fleet of J80 will only participate.

The return of the batons to the program of the competition is another of the novelties of this year and the special prominence given to the 8-meter crews is motivated by this being one of the most numerous classes in the competitions that are held in Galicia, and by the proximity of the Spanish Championship and the World Class to be held in Baiona.

The J80 winner of the Spring Regata will be sponsored with 7,000 euros by the Baionese club so that it can travel to the European of the class that was disputed in July in the French brewery.
