Guillermo Beltrí of the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja, won the first place in the Spanish Cup of the IOM class in the port of Vilagarcía.
Beltri dominated practically from beginning to end. The first race was the work of Francisco Martínez (Club de Mar de Almería), but in the second manga the Torreviejense regatist already led the provisional classification, ending each day in the first position to add 48 net points and 13 partial wins, more than double those achieved by the subchampion, the almerian José Valverde, who added six sleeves (83 points).
With both as first and second in Vilagarcía, the first two posts of the 2018 Spanish Championship were repeated in the same waters... the last occupant of the podium was also another Andalusian representative, Francisco Martínez, of the Club de Mar de Almería, with 116 net points, and which added three partial victories.
The Galician fleet, represented by Juan Ameneiro (Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona) and Pablo Rivas, ended in the tenth and ninth positions, respectively, of a fleet of eighteen units which, by the participation of several Portuguese patterns, was almost an informal Iberian Championship... in fact, Paulo Gomes (CN Povoense) was third after the first day (4-2-2-3-2-10-5), to end eighth in the final, with 209 points, 15 less than Rivas.
