Paul Meilhat, skipper of the IMOCA Biotherm

The French pattern Paul Meilhat will fulfill a lifetime dream in January 2023 when he leads the Biotherm on the exit line of The Ocean Race in Alicante waters.

Meilhat and his team will compete on one of the newest IMOCA ships in the fleet, a Verdier design that is expected to fight for the title in The Ocean Race 2022-23, before Meilhat sails alone in the next edition of the Vendée Globe.

Like many IMOCA regatists, Meilhat is well known for his ability to compete with short crew: he is the winner of the Rum Route and the Fastnet Race, as well as being the champion of the IMOCA Globe Series in 2021 and also has experience and ambition to compete in a wide crew format and claims that the two disciplines complement each other.

The new Biotherm is expected to be baptized in August and will compete on the Ron Route this fall before returning to Alicante, for the departure of The Ocean Race on 15 January 2023.

Paul Meilhat's Biotherm joins the Team Malizia of Patron Boris Herrmann and the 11th Hour Racing Team of Pattern Charlie Enright as confirmed IMOCA teams for The Ocean Race 2022-23... in the coming days The Ocean Race confirms that there will be more news.
