Almost two hundred Basque, Asturian and Cantabrian regatists sailed in Abra waters on the second day of this twentieth edition that also decided the champions of Euskadi

Lorea Elduayen in ILCA 4, Gabriel Oraá in ILCA 6, Beñat Lizaso and Iker Aramendi in 420, Covadonga Fernández and Carmen Simal in FEVA and Íñigo Jauregui - absolute winner - and Markel García in Optimist were imposed in the 20th Trophy José Luis Azquet- St. John's. George's British International Light Sailing School, which was decided with evidence only on the second day. After the 175 Basque, Cantabrian and Asturian regatists remained uncompetitive on Saturday due to the whims of a disconcerting wind, they were able to sail on the second day in the waters of the Abra to make known also the champions of Euskadi.

In the busy class Optimist G1, Iñigo Jáuregui, of Hondarribia, was imposed with the alavesa Nerea Cereceda of Basáñez second in the general. Jáuregui took the prize award trophy of absolute winner thanks to his two victories on the tours held in this class. Markel García noted the triumph in the Optimist G2 class.

Lorea Elduayen, of the Nautical Club of Hondarribia, was the best in the class ILCA 4, in which Paul Emezabal, of the Nautico of San Sebastián, ended up only one point from the winner. David Sales, Aketx Otxarri and Álex Amunarriz were then classified. For his part, Gabriel Oraá, from the Real Club Marítimo del Abra, was imposed in ILCA 6, with the same points (5) as the Gipuzcoan Boja Cajal. Oraá won by imposing on the second and final tour. Martin Bueno was third, Yeray Moreno fourth and Gaspar Gallinger fifth.

For its part, Beñat Lizaso and Iker Aramendi, with two first posts and one second, were proclaimed winners in class 420. At two points, the Vizcaina sisters Daniela and Paula Voss Diaz- Blanco and third were Erlantz Franco and Aritz Barañano. In addition, Covadonga Fernández Diez and Carmen Simal, from the Real Club Astur de Regatas, won with two first positions and a third in the FEVA class, ahead of Josu Zabala and Íñigo Sancho.

The XX Trophy José Luis Azquet- St. George's British International Light Sailing School was unable to complete any tour on its first day. The organizing committee of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra-Real Sporting Club tried to give several exits in the Optimist class, but the whims of the wind in the Inner Abra on an unpleasant and almost winter day made it impossible for the tests to be planned.

The XX Trophy José Luis Azqueta of light candle returns to the vizcaina waters of the Abra. Sponsored by St. John's. George's British International School, will be decided at the Abra on six tours (three on Saturday, April 23, from 13: 00, and three on Sunday, 24: 00, from 11: 00). It will also be the Euskadi Championship so, following the development of the tests, the winners in the Optimist classes - which comes back after not having been contested a year ago for the restrictions - FEVA, 420, Snipe, ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 will have two reasons for satisfaction. A hundred regatists will participate in a light sailing competition, remember in each edition, there are already twenty, José Luis Azqueta, who was president of the Club between 1993 and 1997. Azqueta was one of the great drivers of this sport in the Basque Country.

This Trophy, which has long been consolidated in the Cantabria cornice as one of the most important, has the new sponsorship of St. John's. George's British International School and with the collaboration of El Correo, Wor-60, Fhimasa, Getxo City Council, Bizkaia Foral Diputación, Vasca de Vela Federation and Vizcaine de Vela Federation.

George's British International School following agreement with our José Luis de Ugarte School of Selling of the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club.St. George's is a private international school in Leioa, Bilbao-Vizcaya, which hosts children between 2 and 18 years of age.
