The port of Cambrils has hosted a maritime emergency drill coordinated by the Maritime Captains of Tarragona on Thursday. In this case a fire has been simulated in one of the tourist catamarans in the port of Cambrils and that make their way to Salou.

Shortly after leaving the port, the ship has simulated a fire in the machine chamber that has been attempted to suffocate by the crew, but the ship's captain has decided to evacuate the seventy people he was carrying by warning Salvamento Marítimo.

The Rescue Control Centre, for its part, has warned other media: Red Cross, Civil Guard, Mossos d'Esquadra, Bombers and the Nautic Cambrils Club. In the course of the evacuation, which was being carried out with the support of a platform in the Port of Cambrils, four of the passengers fell into the water and the emergency teams of Salvamento Marítimo and Fire began the rescue with their respective ships.

The CNCB boat has collected two people from the water. Soon after the catamaran has docked in the port of call, where the Nautical Club has proceeded to place pollution barriers around it. The drill has ended with an evaluation meeting by all the agents involved in the social living room of the Club.

This Thursday's drill has tested the port's self-protection plan and has tested the coordination between maritime and land media. In total, the operation of this Thursday has involved sixteen agencies and entities: Maritime Captains, Maritime Salvation, Subdelegació del Govern, Creuers Costa Daurada, Nàutica Alfacs, Mossos d'Esquadra, Local Police of Cambrils, Civil Guard, Red Cross, Bombers of the Generalitat, Civil Protection, the System d'Emergènces Mèdiques, Generalitat de Catalunya, Confraria de Pescadors de Cambrils, Ajuntame de Cambrils and CNCB.

The maritime emergency simulations carried out by the Maritime Captains aim to make the responsible and participating persons better aware and understand their functions in order to identify deficiencies and propose corrective measures for the improvement of the response to a maritime emergency. The Nüutic Cambrils Club always works with full coordination and collaboration with all the actors involved in maritime safety for the benefit of all users.
