Almarin launches the new B1250A buoy

In Portugal, the Harbour Authority of Aveiro has already acquired 30 units for the definitive beacon in a navigation channel

In recent years, there has been an increase in the use of beach buoys adapted for temporary beacons and recently also for definitive beacons. This is mainly due to its cost and lightness, so it requires very few means for its installation. The beach buoys have several problems with:

• Its reduced dimensions, in breach of the requirements of the IALA and State Ports in terms of visible area and focal plane.
• Its little stability, due to the lack of counterweight and not being equipped with flashlights and top marks. If they are not installed rigorously, they are easily destabilized.
• Its low resistance: chain binding is done by a plastic handle that is used to break.

To solve these problems, Almarin has developed a new buoy, the B1250A, the most compact aid of its Balizamar range. It is a buoy that maintains Almarin's philosophy of using a single-piece floater and a galvanized steel structure with a central sheet for the transmission of loads, characteristic of the Balizamar range. For the first time the day mark is also rotated in one piece.

It contains a radar reflector inside it. The objective is to offer a robust and quality equipment at a reduced weight, which meets the size and range requirements, which has stability due to the use of counterweights and which offers easy palletization and storage thanks to its integrated tie.
