A little more than a month after the beginning of the 2022 nautical season and although the market is maintained with sustained growth, supported by the small length and the nautical charter, the sector is very pending international events, the problems in the logistics chain with the lack of supplies and the uncertainty in the markets (Photo Pedro Seoane)

The nautical market maintains the growth of 1% in the registration of recreational boats, until the end of February, with a total of 600 records, of which 75% are for private-use vessels and 25% for vessels intended for the nautical charter, which maintains its upward trend with a growth of 57% in the first two months of 2022.

The growth in enrolment is based on small-length vessels up to 8 metres, which grow on average by 10%, and continue to hold the highest market share (86%). The rest of the segments fall from the same period of 2021.

By type of boat, growth is based on the registration of folding pneumatic vessels (35%) and motor vessels (1.5%) that continue to record the highest demand, with 45% market share. Enrolments fall in the rest of the market.

The rental market with a growth of 57% over the year, has 149 registration of vessels for this use, compared with 110 in the same period of 2021. The length between 12 and 16 meters (+ 55% of registration) and the sailboats (+ 120% of registration) are still the most required boats for rental use.

Andalusia maintains the highest market share (20.66%), but loses a -17.3% registration of recreational boats over the same period of 2022. Catalonia follows, by market share (16.83%) with a growth of 12.22%. The Valencia Community maintains the third position on the nautical market (14.66%) and has a growth of 12.82% of registered vessels. The Balearic Islands are still in fourth place, with a market share of 13% but it reduces the fall in enrolment over the month of January (-6%).

In the charter market, the Valencia Community heads the rental market with 28.19% share, followed by the Balearic Islands (22.82%) and Catalonia (11.42%).
