Covadonga Fernández and Carmen Simal, on board the Wompe of the FEVA class, winners of the VIII Nautical Rally of Carnival, of the Real Club Astur of Regatas. The Vikings on board the Audaz, took the prize for the best costume of the Rally.

On Saturday the 8th Carnival Nautical Rally took place in Gijón, a test where the fleet of both light sailing and cruise competed under the Osiris time compensation system.

The very loose wind, just over 5 knots, and the sea of bottom caused the journey to be cut, only one stretch of the test being disputed. The race was dominated by the couple formed by Covadonga Fernández and Carmen Simal on board the FEVA, Wompe. The second square was for another FEVA the RCAR3, tripulated by Marta Duran and Carmen Ayuela, closing the podium posts the Snipe Garmore, by Guillermo Marqués and Jorge Fernández.

The Audaz, of Hernán Jiménez and his crew disguised as Vikings unanimously won the prize for the best costume of the fleet and gave a whole recital, both at sea and on land. The second best costume was for the Mambo, by Enrique Izquierdo disguised as a ship and crew of the Wizard of Oz.

2022-02-25: The Carnival Nautical Rally inaugurates the sailing season in Gijón

Tomorrow Saturday will be held in the waters of Gijón, the VIII Nautical Rally of Carnival, organized by the Real Club Astur de Regatas

The sailing season in Gijón begins with the celebration, of the VIII Nautical Rally of Carnival, a test that has the peculiarity that it is compiled under the system of compensation of times Osiris, where all the registered sails under the same class, both the light sails, and the cruises... with the signal of attention will be given at 15.00h next Saturday in the vicinity of the beach of San Lorenzo, the realization of a single manga is planned.

With the celebration of this test, the Real Club Astur de Regatas de Gijón, will give the starting pistoletazo of its extensive season of competitions, which has its continuation next March 5 with the beginning of the Spring Trophy of the Snipe class, ending in the distant month of December with a solo journey and two.
