Surfing has been included in three consecutive Olympic Games after Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024

At the 139 Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Beijing, China, the inclusion of Surfing in the Initial Sports Programme for LA28 was approved... following a vote by IOC members, surfing is now integrated into the group of 28 Olympic sports.

The announcement consolidates the Surfing as a long-term element in the Olympic Program... Fernando Aguerre, President of the ISA, confirmed his enthusiasm and that of the ISA to potentially show the great value of sport at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, where surfing is an essential part of Australia's Golden Coast culture.

For his part, Casey Wasserman, President of LA28, added... The LA28 Games have always tried to bring more freshness, youth energy and creativity to the Olympic and Paralympic movement... Los Angeles is a place like no other and it will be amazing to host surfing, skateboarding and climbing as iconic sports on the west coast along with the favorites of the Olympic fans.

In addition, Carissa Moore, an Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo 2020, noted that: One of the reasons I love surfing so much is that the world we live in today is so fast and, in the ocean, you have to be present... my goal is to inspire one person, awaken his passion and try to get on a surf board for the first time.
