The fourth and last day has been marked by the low wind and a long delay, although allowing to complete a test (Photo Pep Portas)
The tenth Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy already has new winners: the Thai Weka Bhanubandh (Royal Varuna YC) and the Greek Kosma Fragkiski (PFCN) take the title of champions for their respectable countries... among the sub13 they have won the highest awards... the Finnish Lily-Sofie Latvala (HSS) and the Alicantino Ignacio Sánchez (RCR Alicante).
A last day that has been marked by the total absence of the wind and that after more than 4 hours of waiting it has been possible to launch a single test for the Oro group. The tenth test has not had a great history since it was all almost decided, and with that little room for manoeuvre some regatists could little do to improve on the table, with small exceptions.
Two of them have taken out a redeem of all this, case of the shooting Hugo Rodríguez (CN S'Arenal) that, with a new triumph, together with the other nine results, hang the silver medal. The ballast has been left at 52 of Bhanubandh, after a total of 82 points. Bronze for the Andalusian Roberto Águilar (CNM Benalmádena), with 94 points in your locker.
As for the females, there have been no changes in the podium, with regard to the positions reached after the Saturday day was closed. With the Greek Kosma Fragkiski (PFCN) as champion, followed by the Valencian Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia) and the same club and Eleni Alchanati.
Finnish Lily-Sofie Latvala (HSS) has been able to defend her advantage, even though she has sailed, since last Friday she obtained the ticket for the gold group, not the rest of the podium companions, which has been closed with Mar Infante (RCMT Punta Umbria) and the Valencian Marta Ferrando (RCN de Valencia).
In the male category, with all those involved and with podium options in the gold group, they have contested a last test with the calculator and looking where to locate the discard according to the result in this last test.
It is the Alicantino Ignacio Sánchez (RCR Alicante) who has taken the first place to that point from José Manuel Cuellar (RCN del Adra), who has finished the second. Sánchez closed his participation in Torrevieja with 68 for 84 reached by Cuellar.
For the Alicantino that was his worst result, so he got the advantage enough to be a champion, while the almerian had as the worst partial a DSQ (101). The bronze has been for Dutch Maurits Melens.
2022-01-29: Weka Bhanubandh giant pass at the Euromarina Trophy Optimist Torrevieja

The Thai regatist achieves a 52-point advantage over the Catalan Dani García and 56 over the Andalusian Roberto Aguilar... in females, Blanca Ferrando gives the command to the Greek Fragkiski Kosma who with 72 is second of the absolute general (Pep Portas photos)
The Thai Weka Bhanubandh is doing more than enough to make the fourteenth edition of the Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy, on a day marked by the little wind and also very long, as it did yesterday. Bhanubandh, with 8-4-11 partial sum 24 points after the applied discard. Some figures leave the Royal Varuna YC representative as a virtual champion of this edition in the waters of Torrevieja.
In the absence of a single day and three planned tests, Bhanubandh has a very important advantage over the second on the table, with 52 different points. That second square is occupied by the Greek Fragkiski Kosma (PFCN), adding 72 points, to 48 points from the Thai. Kosma, in addition, takes the first place to the Spanish Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia), for whom today has not been their best day, marking a few or nothing favorable to their interests. Provisional Bronze is for another Greek representative: Eleni Alchanati (PFCN) 38 points from the Valencian.
In the first test it did not fall from position 49, it improved in the second with a 6, but the pointer arrived at the last test of the day with a 63 that would weigh him very much. The difference in the category of females, between the Greek and the Valencian is 58 points, with three tests still to be completed.
Dani García (CN Masnou) with 17-10-46 partials is placed second in male category and only remains to defend its silver metal as the Andalusian Roberto Aguilar (CNM Benalmádena) is located only two points from García.
As for the SUB13, few or no changes in the general provision. The Finnish Lily-Sofie Latvala (HSS) occupies the first square, followed by the Valencian Marta Ferrando (RCN of Valencia) and Mar Infante (RCMT Punta Umbria), while in the male category the podium is closed in the absence of a day and three tests with José Manuel Cuellar (RCN Adra), followed by Ignacio Sánchez (RCR Alicante) and the Dutch Maurits Mellens.
Tomorrow Sunday fourth and last day, keeping the schedule scheduled of 10: 00 in the morning the start of the first test of the day... about 5: 30 in the afternoon is planned the delivery of trophies at the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja.

2022-01-28: Euromarina Optimist: the qualifying round is closed with Weka Bhanubandh leader

Second day in Torrevieja, complicated and long, but closing with the three planned tests, giving way to the two days of final series... Blanca Ferrando and Kosma Fragkiski lead the group of women, both tied to 48 points (Pep Portas photos)
The qualifying round in the Eurobarina Optimist Torrevieja Trophy is closed, it does so on a second long day and quite complicated by the roles... a situation that has caused many false outputs.
With the applied discards and the favorites stepping strong, the gold, silver, bronze and emerald groups are defined, thus giving way to the two days planned for the final series and to those that arrive as a solid leader and quite clearly dominating the Thai Weka Bhanubandh, achieving a 9-point advantage over the second of the table.
Bhanubandh, now listed in the yellow group (yesterday blue) has signed three good partials: 2-1-1, together with the results of yesterday and more the discards, leave the representative of the Royal Varuna YC with 7 points, to 9 of the second of the table, the Hungarian Benedek Barna Héder (SVE), who has punctured in the last test of the day marking a 32, result that was to be removed but that it was passed bill. The santapolero Peter Adam (CN Santa Pola) climbs to the third square, staying 12 points from the Bhanubandh. Adam has been very regular (3-4-2) that allows him to occupy that third temporary position.
Maximum equality in females with the Valencian Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia) and the Greek Kosma Fragkiski (PFNC), both tied to 48 points. The best Spanish partials, located in the red group, with 4-10-13 allow you to stand in front. The Greek (blue) has closed the day with results of 7-5-16. The provisional bronze is for the Polish Alicja Tutkowska (YKP Gdynia) with 53 points. Tutkowska has not been lucky in the first test and has been of the many black flags that have been in that first test and that will pass it bill.
As regards the category SUB13, Finnish Lily-Sofie Latvala (HSS) has shown itself once more strong, although it has not had a good start with a 21 and a 30 improving in the close of the day by signing an 8th job. This allows you to take a little more advantage over the second of the table that has been less right than her. The Valencian Marta Ferrando (RCN Valencia) has concluded today with partials of 30-40-37. For the moment the bronze is for the Infant Sea (RCMT Punta Umbria), 14 points from Ferrando.
José Manuel Cuellar (RCN de Adra) is a leader, today highlighting a 7th position as the best partial. The first and second trials closed their participation with posts 11 and 9 respectively. Behind Nikko Palou (RCN Palma), with a partial triumph in the first test of the day in the blue group, and Ignacio Sánchez (RCR Alicante) provisional bronze. The alicantino has been the one that has achieved the best partial today of the three podium: 5-5-8.
Tomorrow Saturday, the third day and the first day of the final series, the wind seems to want to be absent at first hour, so there has been a change to the program setting the top of departure at 12 noon, except for changes.
