Ibiza marines raise awareness of their users in sustainable navigation

The slogan of the campaign that serves as a link is "Welcome to the Mediterranean, welcome to your home..." the idea is to show the sea as a common space of enjoyment but that needs care that is often not given... a home that must be preserved and protected... without a living sea, full of biodiversity and clean, the Balearic Islands would have no future... without blue, no green.
The Iberian marines and the nautical clubs, Botafoc Ibiza, Es Náutic, Marina Ibiza and Marina Santa Eulalia, together with the Marine Forum, have today presented in FITUR a campaign of awareness and information aimed at explaining how to carry out sustainable navigation and to disseminate all the facilities with which users of this type of activities have in Ibiza to enjoy the Mediterranean without punishing it.
This campaign is the result of the conclusions of a working group that was established in response to one of the recommendations of the first edition of the Marine Forum. It called for the commitment of the marines and nautical clubs to work to achieve the reduction of discharges to the sea of black waters and seagoing of the ships by the users of the ships. These meetings served to share good practices, analyse problems and design future actions aimed at improving the sector's best management of waste disposal.
In this way the need to communicate to society the work they develop and their involvement in the care of the environment emerged. Recreation nautical is an economic activity that brings added value to the tourism sector and must be associated with values such as respect for the integrity and conservation of the marine environment.
This working group decided that it was necessary to communicate to its users and to society at large the collaborative and dissemination work that marine and nautical clubs are doing in the protection and preservation of the marine environment; to work in the prevention and reduction of uncontrolled and unwanted discharges, with a view to progressively eliminating pollution of the marine environment; and, finally, to ensure that the activities and uses of the marine environment are compatible with their protection.
In addition, it was important for the sector not only to raise awareness and communicate good environmental practices from the nautical facilities, but also to make known the high quality standards that the sector itself requires, as well as the environmental management systems that are being used and implemented.
The campaign has been divided into two parts. First, work has been done on sustainable awareness-raising aimed at sharing it with both the users of nautical and nautical clubs, as well as with the general public, with the aim of making known the work done in the facilities and the commitment they have to responsible environmental practices development.
This action is made up of four videos that will be disseminated on the social networks and websites of the four ports and of the Marine Forum, as well as being able to send to the customers of each of the facilities as a reminder of the importance of sustainable navigation and to remind them of all the facilities that have, for the emptying of the sentinas, the grey waters and the oils, as well as of the spaces with which they have for the separation of all types of waste.
The second part is aimed at rewarding and highlighting users who perform good navigation, as well as the preparation of ships, in a sustainable way. The four ports understand that some kind of recognition, of loyalty card with an offer of advantages can help to raise user awareness.
