The Andalusian Academy of Gastronomy and Tourism has organized, with the support of the Port of Huelva, the days on "Influences of the Ports in Gastronomy," held in the Cocheras del Puerto.

The president of the Port of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, has opened the event, pointing out that our province "has a unique gastronomy, with top quality products that are exported to different corners of the world. In this work of spreading the name of Huelva abroad, the Port plays a fundamental role. "In addition, he has assured that"from the Port of Huelva, we work for the growth of our city, embarking on projects that will offer more opportunities to the gastronomic and tourist sectors, such as the City of the Marisco, the ranch or the reform of the Levante Dome, with which we want to bring the river closer to the onubenses and get the arrival of more cruises. "

On behalf of the Council of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, with which the Academy has been working and advising for a long time, the Managing Director of the Agency of Agrarian and Fisheries Management, José Carlos Álvarez, who closed the event, was present.

The president of the Andalusian Academy of Gastronomy and Tourism, Rosa Vañó, has thanked the Port of Huelva for its collaboration and, to the participants, to share its knowledge:"It is the mission of the Andalusian Academy of Gastronomy and Tourism to support, disseminate and promote all sectors that make up two disciplines as complementary as Gastronomy and Tourism, from its origin and care; agriculture, livestock, fishing, hunting, to the end point; restorators, markets and slices. We have a millennial gastronomic culture, which forms the basis and substrate of one of the richest and most diverse gastronomy in the world, it is our duty to investigate, collect and preserve this legacy, with a view to the present but also to the future, so that our Andalusian Gastronomy, has a long life and is known and recognized outside our borders. Hence, the importance of the AGTCA being a force with the private sector and public institutions, as is the case with this cooperation agreement signed with the Port of Huelva and that it begins to bear fruit in this first meeting that analyses the influence of the ports on the gastronomy."

Closing event with authorities and rapporteurs

The event was attended by representatives of several provinces with port, and gastronomy professionals such as chef onubense Xanty Elías, recently awarded the Culinary World Prize 2021 for the project 'The Children Eat the Future'. Elías has also received the Green Star of sustainability from the Michelin Guide for its Afoliz Finca.

The well-known Malagasy gastronomic journalist Enrique Bellver, head of the section of gastronomic criticism and enology of the South Journal for more than 30 years, and the Galician representative, the Baionese Alfonso Mandado, member of the Organizing Committee of Ibernaútica-Semana Abanca, representing the University of Vigo, also participated in the events.
