The world ranking of the SSL is made through the results of all the regatists of each of the countries in all kinds of races, from the Olympic, World, SailGP, to the club races... the scores of each and the other are different... from there has been created a competition, in the style of the world football championship, in which up to 56 countries... of these, eight are serial heads and are the following in order of world ranking: Great Britain, Spain, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Italy and Denmark (Photo Martina Orsini)
The eight serial-headed countries of SSL Gold Cup, World Nations Championship to be held in 2022 in Switzerland, have been released and correspond to the first ranked in the world ranking of SSL, race to be held between May and July - the Early Phase - and October and November - the Final Phase. Spain, led by the double Olympic champion Luis Doreeste, who led the world ranking during 2021, has been ranked second, outnumbered by Britain only.
The previous phase will be held by the rest of the countries from May 16 to July 16 in Lake Neuchatel. From there will come the teams that will pass to the Final Phase, which will take place from October 28 to November 20, in Lake Leman, Geneva. It will start with the 1 / 32 Final and end with the Great Final with the top four.
The eight serial heads will not enter into line until the final quarter, where they will be framed in groups of four, of which two will have arrived automatically and two of the previous phases. Spain (second of the ranking) and Italy (seventh of the ranking) have been included in the QF4.
On continents Europe has 12 participating countries, Africa- Asia with 8 and North America, South America and Caribbean - Pacific 4 each... in the coming weeks the Spanish selection will be completed that will come to this unique competition.
