Aim JJOO Paris: López Marra-Tara Pacheco announce their alliance in Nacra 17
The Galician regatist Iago López Marra (Portosín, 1990) and the Canaria Tara Pacheco (Gran Canaria, 1988) will form a team in the Nacra 17 class for the campaign that now starts for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, as announced by Tara Pacheco himself through a press release sent by the Canary Federation of Vela.
López Marra, who participated in the Games of Rio 2016 (ninth) and Tokyo always with the Madrileño Diego Botín in the 49th, is one of the most prominent regatists on the national scene and many medals have been obtained in European and world championships.
In the Japanese Olympic Citation of 2021, for the postponement of a year due to the pandemic, the Coruñés obtained an Olympic diploma in the 49er class forming team with the Madrileño Diego Botín, with which he achieved the fourth position. The medal got away at the final Medal Race.
Tara Pacheco also obtained Olympic diploma in Tokyo, with a sixth in the Nacra 17 class next to Florian Trittel. A class in which the portosin athlete will now be released.
This Canarian-Galician alliance is the second collaboration between regatists from both autonomous communities that is produced with the same objective. In April 2020, Patricia Suárez (Vigo, 1994) and María Cantero (Las Palmas, 1997) presented at the Galego de Vela Center their project to assault Paris 2024 in the 49er FX class, trained by the Arousan Olympic Antón Paz.
