The RORC Transatlantic Race is part of Lanzarote with the Comanche in head

A spectacular fleet of 30 ships, 27 nationalities and more than 50 regatists with a vast curriculum in the most prestigious competitions. Lanzarote this week has been the basis for preparing the Atlantic crossing of most recognized figures such as Brain Thompson, Guillermo Altadil, Jens Dolmer or Alex Thomson among many others.
The exit of the Transatlantic Race RORC has not been more emotional. It was possible to enjoy a wonderful blue sky, with a temperature of 20 degrees and with an average of 16 knots and the background of the beach of the Reducto, in Arrecife, where the fleet met after having prepared the crossing from the marines of Calero Marinas in Lanzarote, Puerto Calero and Marina Lanzarote.
At 11: 00 the RORC committee supported by the Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife gave the exit to the fastest, the trimarans Argo, Maserati, PowerPlay and Ultim Emotion 2, which took just thirty minutes to set up the boya de desmarque located in Puerto Calero, in a very equal competition. At 11: 10, the departure of the rest of the fleet, with Mitch Booth's spectacular maxi Comanche taking the lead and as a firm candidate to get the IMA championship trophy in 2022.
Although the part for the exit could not be better, in the next few days the fleet is facing adverse weather conditions, which will certainly test the expertise of these intrepid sailors. The current records of the RORC Transatlantic Race are 10 days 5 hours and 47 minutes and 11 seconds for the monocascos, obtained by the My Song of Pier Luigi Loro in 2018 and 5 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 3 seconds for the trimarans in possession of Phaedo 3, by Lloyd Thornburg, patronised by Brian Thompson in 2016.
