This device, called Seabin, will contribute to maritime cleaning through the capture of plastics, floating remains and microfibres

The device specifically has the capacity to collect 90,000 bags, 35,700 vessels, 16,500 bottles and 166,500 plastic utensils per year, and an annual average of between 1 and 1.4 tons of waste. This' image Seabin 'is located specifically in the marina of the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club.
"We have been making our athletes aware of the importance of the environment with the regular collection of plastics on our coast for many years. We want to give a determined impetus in the commitment of this centenary club to sustainable development and for this we are working on a strategic plan," explained sources of the Club de Las Arenas, represented by its President Ramón Zubiaga, Vice President Manuel Sendagorta and the comandoro Tomás Alonso- Allende, in an event attended by many other people such as the president of the Spanish Federation of Vela Javier Sanz Fernández or the councilal of Geto Joseba, as the director of the Carbor (the Carbor of the company of the Azaínar, and the company of the Azaínar (the Azaínar).

Getxo's Seabin 'image is the fourth to be installed at the state level. Barcelona, Valencia and Mahón also have the device and it is planned that, over the next few weeks, imagine installing Seabins in other ports. The initiative has been launched by Blue Carbon, a project that fights to protect the sea, reduce CO2 emissions and combat climate change
The device works as a floating garbage container that is placed in the ports at water level and, through a low-consumption electrical system, suctions the water from the surface and it passes through a capture bag located inside it. The Seabin pump the water back into the port and leaves the waste trapped in the capture bag, which has the capacity to contain up to 20 kg of waste, macro and microplastics, microfibers and even fuel, and can be emptied several times a day.
